Default 2013 Topps Chrome - lack of excitement in it this year?

Haven't seen any posts on TC in a while. Is there just not as much excitement as there was last year or is it going to be one of those products that wont get talked much about until right before release?

Do we think it is going to be less ordered than last year? The general cycle seems to be every other year is a little less ordered than the last, and I believe 2012 was pretty heavily ordered.

If memory serves, this time last year TC was creeping up to around $900/case. I do realize that Harper-mania was in full swing, and that most likely played a part in the price jumps. Even with 2013 being Puig-tastic, the price on cases hasn't budged yet ($755) and we're a month out from release (9/18).

Last year seemed to be powered strictly by Harper and Darvish, and to some point Cespedes. I think this years autograph lineup is going to a lot stronger than last years, with Puig, Profar, Bundy, Machado and Skaggs. Probably even guys like Gausman, Bradley, Sano and Castellanos.

I'm still doing a case regardless, hoping to make it a MUCH better case than I got last year.

Anyone have any insight as far as production/autos/etc??

It's still a month away. I started the All Things 2013 Topps Chrome thread MONTHS ago out of sheer excitement. It only got better with the addition of Puig, and what might be his true first Rookie Card (Ginter doesn't count, in my opinion, nor does Bowman Platinum).

I've got three cases coming, and couldn't be more stoked to rip them open.

For Mariners fans, VERY likely we'll see Franklin, Miller AND Zunino, or any combination of those three. We had Montero last year (bleh), and Peguero the year before (bleh).

I think it'll be one of the hottest products of the year considering this is a fantastic rookie class.

Well, we all know Chrome is King, and there is no base cards in Inception, so, Topps Chrome will still be the first

I personally feel like Finest will be more popular this year with the retro designs.

Correct me if I am wrong but TC is for rookie autos where as BC is prospect or 1st BC autos. Correct?

I have 3 boxes coming in and wish I had more. This is always my favorite product - I might actually just buy a case of it next year. But definitely looking forward to what I get of it this year.

Yes. Rookies in Topps Chrome, (mostly) prospects in Bowman, Bowman Chrome, and Bowman DP&P.

It was more of a rhetorical question, with what I consider to be the main issue with TC and why it is always cheap in comparison.

I thought so, responding to a member like yourself haha. I was thinking "There's no way he doesn't know this."

I think you mean less expensive. I prefer Topps Chrome over every other product on the market, as I think the value to a collector is always there. TC is to a collector what BC is to a flipper.

True but I am a collector mainly, just like the idea of being able to flip it if I need to down the road. TC is a value based product though and if you collect RC autos then it certainly would be the way to go, I just prefer 1st BC autos.

Man I wish I had enough money to buy a case or two of this stuff. I think this years TC could be worth sitting on for a couple of years with this Rookie class...

basically you are getting the same thing just cheaper, most topps chrome autos I believe have the RC on them because all the players have appeared in games where as bowman chrome they haven't played yet.

Sans the redemption expiration risk.

This is a great strategy assuming some of the big guys are live (Puig, Machado, Skaggs, Zunino), and really, the only way to know is to wait for the product to be ripped open. Problem with that is that if you wait, it will have already been too late to get in early enough to treat this as an investment.

Prime definition of a Catch 22.

you can always buy as soon as BO lists it, then decide at release if it's worth it to hold for years. If not, you can flip immediately and at least break even 90% of them

This is the main reason I'm still considering ordering a case! The chance at 3 of my Mariners is awesome.

Agreed. Last year had Liddi (I have the full rainbow, minus plates) and Montero, but neither have the potential of Franklin, Miller and Z. Granted, any one of those three rainbows will be significantly more expensive to build than the Liddi, but we collect to collect, right?

Could be. Everyone here is sleeping on Wil Myers and Zack Wheeler, who both could have autographs in this.

I bet it runs to $900 a case. If it does I won't rip a pack.
