Default Inception. Why's it so low?

I mean the cards look great, they have on card autos of hot prospects but they sell or don't sell often even for peanuts especially when compared to chrome. Why is that do you think?

They aren't shiny - Chrome is king. Inception is no more special than Sterling, Platinum, or any other non-chrome product, in my opinion.

Also, there are a bunch of players on the checklist that just aren't worth the risk of getting only 5 cards.

Because it isn't Bowman Chrome.

I wish the answer wasn't that simple, but that's the answer.

The ones that are true RC sell fairly well, compared to chrome they don't sell as well because you only get 1 auto per box in chrome (unless your paying 125+ for a jumbo)

Chrome is 59-70 a box... 1 autos...

Inception paper condition sensitive cards... opening price of around $85-$90 per box with 5 autos per...

Simple answer, just cheap.

personally I think Inception autos have room to grow so I have a few players im stashing away from there. However Chrome is King still and always will be in terms of prospects

Inception has a few things going for it, one they are beautiful cards, two they are on card. I can't say both of those things about chrome, at least IMO

biggest reason is because it is a newcomer in an already crowded field

Box/cases are selling for much higher than what factory cost was. i would say for a new product INCEPTION is being received quite well overall.

Because it's another reason why people say the market is oversaturated...

Inception was selling out of the gate bc of the perceived idea that Puig was in it...then Platinum released and next will be some bowman in a few short weeks but still haven't seen a Topps Mini Puig live auto...

Puig has mini autos in Topps Mini, they are redemptions.

Maybe it's because, just like in real baseball, people just don't embrace new things? Chrome has been around for a long time and is established in the market. Thus people feel comfortable paying out the you know what for it. Since they got rid of, mostly, the condition issues from Inception FB I think Inception is much nicer than Chrome. When I get a Chrome card I'm nervous as hell to touch because it might scratch the surface. Heck, I feel a knot in my throat just putting it in the sleeve. Centering is always an issue with Chrome as well.

Inception has a terrific design and looks amazing with the on-card autos. There isn't such a huge issue with surface perfection either. Although edges can be an issue in Inception, I haven't had any of those issues. So to answer the OP's question I really can't understand why Inception is so much lower than Chrome. I know one thing for sure, I will take my $30 Correa Inception auto over a $70 Correa Chrome any day of the week.

If I represent a certain number of collectors, and I do believe there are others like me, I don't even bother with Inception for three big reasons that have already been touched upon in earlier posts.
1. Like previously stated, in the case of much of the checklist, there are already plenty of earlier autograph options for that said prospect. Bowman Chrome is usually the 1st for most prospects and the 1st earliest card is what counts most for many collectors.
2. The autographs are just plain easier to obtain. 1 per box, versus 5 per box. You ask why chrome would have a higher perceived value? Well, it costs more to bust boxes to pull any particular prospect auto. Duh.
3. While I know the base autos for both products are not numbered, the plain fact of the matter that there are more autos per box for Inception also makes some collectors feel that the autos are just plain overproduced. They may be overproduced in either case, but the perception is much more acute with Inception.

I said this when inception first came out. They don't hold long term value, just like in football. I'm not hating, just stating the facts, and the ebay secondary values reflect it.

I'm surprised with their new 1 redemption per pack promotion, this isn't selling like hot cakes.

I like Inception quite a bit but not as a prospect product. We all know that is Chrome's domain and I'm personally tired of prospects anyways. If Inception had my vet PC players (all are under 23 yo but are 'vets' ), I would have definitely bought some but the way it is I won't even buy a single pack nor a single card.

I think people in general are getting overwhelmed with prospecting. The sheer number of minor leaguers and the tons of different products is too much to keep up with in both research and storage while waiting for a small percentage of them to pan out.

I'll still buy BC singles of a couple of targeted players but my day of buying cases of it and sitting on thousands of cards are over. I don't think I'm alone.

I have to say this was a good question to ask. Lots of good responses and a good market perspective.

I guess for me, I like a little of both. Especially when there were guys I couldn't afford in Chrome or was too late on.

I also think Inception has potential in the future. Chrome had a slow start too.

Broke two cases- I think they're horrendous looking. The color parallels are also really boring to me. That's just me though
