Default Brett Lawrie is just insane at 3rd base...

I mean, really, all of this in one 4 game series. Just insane. Arguably best 3B range in the MLB, becoming the best defensive 3B in baseball. He's incredible.

AUGUST 30 EDIT. WOW WHAT A PLAY.

I'd have to put Machado up there as well with the range.

Boy did the Brewers make a mistake or what?

Then the Mets found out even more why Shaun Marcum sucks.

great collection here and I also think he a wonderful player, but seeing him closeup, he looks MUCH skinnier than a couple years ago, I wonder if he was on PEDs to give him all that power when he came up and dropped it after MLB cracked down? His numbers are coming back to his minors numbers, good average, 10-20 HR power.

I wouldn't say Marcum was awful for Milwaukee, but yes, they made a mistake.

baseball is no fun with PED accusations with nothing to base it on other than "he's skinnier".

BC autos because they are SP are still insane. Yes, he had an incredible 2011 rookie season, and prices were certainly up there with Harper.

Yea if not for those great plays by Lawrie the Jay's would be 20+ games behind Boston rather then the current 17 1/2 LOL

My guess would be it wasn't Farrell's fault after all.

2012 he led all 3rd basemen in Fangraphs Defensive Runs Saved. That's not below average.

Ha, Blaw, guy is a joke. Machado is twice the defender.

Yes, I would put Machado ahead of him right now.

And in 2013 he has cost his team runs.

That's not the best in the league.

Article from Baseball Prospectus, here's what they had to say about Lawrie.

"His detractors will tell you that his makeup makes him a risk or prone to streakiness, but I think that line of thinking is just caddywhompus. He plays at level 10 with an extra shot of espresso at all times, but he is still under control. He has impressive forearm strength that lets him snap the bat head through the zone, but he does a good job of staying back on balls and driving them the other way, whereas he was just looking to yank everything when he first came up. I think he is among the five best defenders at his position in the game, and he is only going to improve. He is very quick and has more than enough arm strength to make the toughest plays to his right. I am comfortable saying that he is going to be a superstar third baseman, and it's more likely to happen sooner than later."
