Damn... Not bad for us

At the trade deadline i knew it would b a mistake to hold onto any of byrd parnell and buck when their values were so high

Whatever lost season and pushes back possible playoffs to 2016

The Mets should've traded them in July when they could've got more since Byrd and Buck would have more time to make an impact with the Pirates or any other team they were traded to.

However, I like this deal. Looks like they learned from Scott Hairston a year ago. Byrd and Buck had no future with the Mets, might as well get someone who will.

He was already moved into the starting role, it was like 75/25 split time between him and Buck. But, obviously, now he's the lone man, unless Anthony Recker steals his spot

I'm guessing this means that Recker will be getting more playing time possibly more since I'm 99% sure that d'Arnaud will get hurt again.

On another note, two former NY catchers on one team. Go figure...

Horrible trade for the pirates. I understand trying to make that WS run but no chance this pushes them over the top.

Not bad, would have liked to see Buck be the back-up next year, but guessing he hopefully wants a starting job, and he was mainly for Harvey, who likely won't be pitching next year.

Byrd has been fantastic, but really can't count on him next year, and really shouldn't as the Mets build forward.

I like it. Will be rooting for the Pirates.

Building a competitor for now, traded a piece years away for complimentary pieces in a competing year, don't see how this is even close to remotely bad for them.

Byrd has had a great year. He can certainly give them a huge lift. Buck can be solid with the bat at times, but his biggest strength is working with pitchers.

I like it. I will definitely miss both of them. Marlon was just a good ballplayer and seeing the shot of Buck hugging Harvey last night after the Harvey news was priceless. I'll miss them.

Big question is: Why weren't the Pirates blocked?

Maybe other teams don't see Byrd and Buck as big threats.

I personally hate the whole "blocking" thing. If a team picks someone off waivers, there should be an immediate fee (nothing huge, but something).

Pirates had worst production from RF in majors, to say this is a horrible trade for them is asinine.

And this all goes back to the Mets signing Robert Allen Dickey.

He didn't stink this year by any means.

How is this Herrera kid? How does he rank among mets hitting prospects?

Why would anyone look at 2012 for Byrd when you know there's 2013? You temper expectations, but still - we have 2013.

Do you mean Marlon will stink? Because he's been the Mets best hitter this year.
