Default To: NeedChapmans ----- From: Topps ----- HAHA!

Ok, so I cracked 3 cases of Tier One last night and couldn't help but laugh. I am sure everyone probably knows about the INSANE amount of redemptions in this product this year. All I could think about was how hard NeepChapmans has been working on compiling lists and fighting Topps about redemptions. The vow to have them gone by the end of the year has been answered by Topps. The answer? More redemptions than before!!! Its like Topps is giving us the middle finger as collectors.

Behind the scenes at Topps....

Employee - Collectors are complaining about the redemption process.

Head of Operations at Topps - NeedChapmans is probably behind this. Lets add more redemptions!

It's like the price of gas. When it goes from $2.00 to $3.00, people are pissed. So they increase it to $4.00 for a couple months, so when it goes back to $3.00 everyone thinks it's great....

They'll cut back on redemptions for 2014 and we'll think they're the greatest company in the world for reducing redemptions.

It sure is a head scratcher. A product like Tier one is all hits, so it's understandable if the level of redemptions is a bit higher than a product like Bowman or Bowman chrome (for example), but I've tried keeping track of how many redemptions there are ...

Ken Griffey Jr
Jean Segura
Pedro Martinez
Trout/Harper
Yu Darvish
Zack Cozart
Clayton Kershaw
Garciaparra / Ortiz / Martinez
Machado / Ripken / Jones
Cal Ripken Jr
Nolan Ryan
Mike Trout
Willie Mays
Tom Seaver
Justin Upton
David Ortiz
Sandy Koufax
Frank Thomas
Manny Machado
RA Dickey
Bryce Harper
Mike Schmidt
Luis Aparicio
Matt Holliday
Josh Hamilton
Carlos Gonzalez
Prince Fielder
Mike Olt
Elvis Andrus
Dave Stewart
Mark Trumbo
Robinson Cano
Ryan Braun
Derek Holland
Tyler Skaggs
Dustin Pedroia
David Price
Jarrod Parker
Craig Biggio
Reggie Jackson
Johnny Bench
Felix Hernandez
Mike Trout / Rickey Henderson
Dylan Bundy / Ryu Hyun-Jin
Dustin Pedroia / David Ortiz
CJ Wilson / Jared Weaver
Madison Bumgarner
Nomar Garciaparra
Tom Glavine
Gio Gonzalez
Hank Aaron
Kirk Nieuwenhuis
Jered Weaver
John Smoltz
Paul O'Neill
Nathan Eovaldi

Think of how many bubble envelopes, over-sized top loaders and $6 certified mail stickers that's gonna take. Ouch.

Nice Cabrera Bat Knob BTW. If you opened three cases worth of this stuff, you'll come out ahead!

I'm sure it helps their cash flow that they can sell this stuff before they have to pay for most of the autos.

Shame that they can have live autos of a guy like Segura, but then have redemptions of him in the same product.

This is really bad. They should honestly issue this product once every two years without any redemptions.

Yea, I was one of the few lucky ones. It was in my 3rd to last box of my last case as well. Another thing that really sucks on products like this is the limited shelf life. This stuff will be worthless as a sealed product in 3 years. I have been putting back 1 box from each of my large breaks for my newborn son. I figured I could stockpile them over the years and have a good stash for him. Stuff like this can't be left to sit years for obvious reasons. It just adds to the frustration. Hopefully the new year will bring new things (wishful thinking). I bet the rest of this year is doomed though. All of these delays are a big red flag.
