Default Painful Topps Redemption Experience

I know it's like a broken record. I sent in a redemption card for a Joe Morgan Topps Tier One GOLD Crowd Pleaser autograph (numbered out of 10 or 25 I can't remember)........and what do I get in return but a Frank Robinson autograph from the generic set that they have been creating to accommodate customers with.

I mean really?

Granted I know the Tier One Gold Morgan is not a huge pull but it's minimally serial numbered either out of 10 or 25 and they just send me a generic autograph.

Arg, it's just frustrating, thoughts from the group or am I crazy thinking I should have gotten a little more in compensation?

Am I able to call Topps and raise a concern?

Thank you,
Zach

Join the club! I called and complain to Topps and they said they can send a care package. I get it and it was just 3 packs of last years cards some were retail packs.
Topps doesn't care they already have their money by the time the product was ordered and paid for in advanced of release date!

Just package it back up and send it back with a polite but firm note that you do not want anything from their garbage replacement set.

wait what? A Joe Morgan card for a HOF'er who won the MVP in both leagues?

really?

Do you really think when all the brain power that topps has that they meant to "screw" you in that way? They probably thought to themselves...hey lets make it right for once.

I would take a Frank auto over Joe Morgan any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

You'd accept an unnumbered (I'm assuming) Frank auto from a product that doesn't exist in exchange for a Morgan auto /10 from a high end product? It just doesn't seem right to me.

Write a letter explaining why you bought it, what you expected, be polite about it.

They will make it right. Both times I sent redemptions back I got MUCH better returns.

If Michael Eisner is still at the helm of Topps it will always be about keep the exclusive rights and the all might dollar. He was a big influence in many of Disney's acquisitions. in 21 years he brought Disney from 1.8 billion empire value to over 80 billion empire value

From my standpoint........just strictly based on Beckett value from the same 2011 Topps Tier One set (but different insert sets):

-Joe Morgan Crowd Pleasers Auto (not gold) is valued at $50
-Frank Robinson Auto numbered out of /99 is valued at $40

So with mine being numbered out of (I believe /25) it should get a little bump up (replacement value wise).

I did just speak with a Topps rep and gave him the info, waiting on a return call back. I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks,
Zach

Just an update and I am very pleased, I called Topps and they sent me a little care package including some packs and this sweet patch Jonathan Singleton auto, plus they let me keep the Frank Robinson autograph.

I pretty much ignore the fake numbering now. Is it really rare? No. Say they make 100 different cards numbered to 10. It is still the same damn card. It just has a number stuck on it, or it is another color or something. It is fake rarity. Look at how the rookies etc. are numbered. I remember when 2000 spx came out. Their signed rookies were numbered to 1500. That was it. Now they fake scarcity. You have a base rookie sig of God knows how many. Then you have all the different colors with sigs on them. Then they release them in Bowman Chrome/Topps Chrome/Bowman Platinum/Topps Platinum/ Topps/Bowman/ Topps Finest etc. etc. etc. So while a rookie in 2000 had 1500 signed rookie cards, the new stuff has 10,000 yet they call them limited. Forget the numbering and just compare the two signatures.

I just got a strata football redemption and the sticker is way off as well. I am pretty much done with Topps simply because of the redemption BS.
