Default Javier baez for syndergaard trade?

There have been some rumors, doubt it happens, just curious mets fans and cubs fans, would you do it? As a mets fan I would. As a cubs fan I would think about it. You need pitching and you have bryant.

As a Brewers fan I would love if they made that trade.

Mets would win it easily. I know the Cubs have Castro locked-up but a talent like Baez is too rare to trade.

I don't see the Cubs doing that. I think Castro would be more likely to go in a trade for pitching prospects, not that they would get anyone that good in return.

I do not think Theo would do this. Theo is a strong believer in acquiring proven pitching, rather than prospects, typically.

personally Id keep Syndergaard. With Harvey up in the air for who knows how long and Wheeler still unproven and young you can never have too much cheap, young ace like talent. Not a knock on Baez but im just not into dealing elite pitching unless you have an excess of it

Only in Theo's dreams. I told someone they should have traded Castro 3 years ago, thought I was nuts. They could've molested someone's farm system back then for Castro, but now...? Oh well.

Case and point, not to mention prospects never get flipped for prospects.

I wouldnt say Baez is untouchable, and its not like Syendgard is some scrub.

Doubtful it happens, but by no means is Baez untouchable especially with the Cubs having SS/3B already with some upside (Not as much as Baez but still)

Nah the trade wont happen for a number of reasons but the Cubs do need pitching. After Edwards they really dont have much and even he's no lock. Cubs shouldve dealt Castro when he had a ton of value for a boatload of prospects but yea too late

Syndergaard was a throw-in during last year's Dickey trade, that said, I'll keep my pitcher and find a bat elsewhere.

If Toronto's top pitching prospect was a "throw in", consider me Miles Davis.

I dont think the Mets or Cubs would do that trade. The question is what is valued more Good young pitching or a good young hitter. IMO pitchers are hard to find. Both will be top 20 prospects this year.

I don't do it if I'm the Mets. A buddy of mine would love to see them go after Castro and I think that's a much smarter idea as a Mets fan. Baez's stock has never been higher and Castro's stock has never been lower. Mets have lots of arms in the minor league system as well as a couple of young SS in Amed Rosario and Gavin Cecchini. I'd package one of the two up with some desirable arms not named Syndergaard or Montero and see what happens.

Trade Syndergaard with Harvey hurt?

No thanks. If we are trading THOR (god of thunder) I would want an expanded deal that gets us a top hitting prospect AND a good pitching prospect. Doubt that happens.

Baez also plays bad at short and we have third covered

Agree and the Met's don't need any more butchers in the field. Since it's clear the Met's can't sign a free agent without having him forget how to hit, It's about time the Mets draft a kid that can swing a big stick. How long since they selected Darryl in the draft?

Ike Davis put up numbers comparable to Darryl at first.
Sadly, it seems like he then started taking hitting lessons from Kevin Maas

David Wright was a pretty solid bat they picked up...

I'd do it if they throw in Montero... They have hitting, but pitching is a premium.
