If it's going in your PC keep in case so that it's protected and no harm can happen to it. If your selling crack.

Well, I think we've come to a unanimous decision.

I would crack as well. I don't like bulky BGS slabs if the grade isn't at least a 9.0. I think that would look so much better in a 180pt one-touch

That's what I was planning on doing. It's definitely too bulky for my liking.

Does anybody remember where to find that "How-to" video on cracking open BGS slabs?

Definitely crack it. These thick patch cards are VERY, VERY rarely in mint condition...it's just the nature of high pt cards. As a collector of a jumbo patch set, I can assure you that best case scenario, 1 of my 60+ jumbo patches would grade gem mint. I have to say that beyond this point, I agree with everyone else. Seeing something slabbed with this low of a grade makes me sad and takes away from how great the card is. I would (without hesitation) crack this, put it in an appropriately sized magnetic one touch and team bag...or in the one touch and then frame with UV glass.

I'm at work, so all videos are blocked, but the general "how-to" is:

1. Cut a top corner of the slab with wire cutters.
2. Insert flathead screwdriver
3. Twist

This should pop the two sections of the slab apart, but you may need to work the screwdriver along the side a bit if the entire slab doesn't pop.

Best of luck man! Be sure to post a pic when this beauty is in the one touch!

Totally agree with this post, a one touch looks so much better than a BGS slab, it would make for a better display.

As far as cracking the case open, youtube is your friend.

A few more opinions before I (most likely) crack this puppy open?

I would crack it, especially if I was going to sell it. However, I would not have posted it on here if you are indeed planning on selling it.

Are you going to move it to an Ultra Pro One Touch or another UV resistant case? If so, feel free to crack it. Otherwise I'd leave it in there until you're looking to sell.

Sounds like you have your mind made up, but I would leave it in the slab for the protection alone. Some think BGS slabs look bad, yet I see several of those awful BGS Authentic slabs and no one bats an eye.

I'm probably going to end up keeping it. I just think the 8 is ugly.

I can't stand having modern cards (yeah, obviously exceptions) under a 9 so purely based off of that i'd crack it.

Well, I was thinking that the regular one-touch case would look better.

Why is BGS 8 so "ugly"?It's nothing more than a white label.

If you are planning on keeping it then don't crack it but if you are deciding to sell it then crack it. Not a big fan of graded cards myself as most of mine probably wouldn't grade really high cause of them being thicker. I have always felt that the true value of a card should be how rare the card is and what it presents such as a patch, etc. Of course its always nice to have a nice condition card but it doesn't really bother me if a thicker card is not in perfect condition.

If I were keeping it, I would crack it and frame it to cover edges
