Talking My 2005 Chicago White Sox World Series Autograph Project

Hey guys, as almost all of you know, I am a die-hard Sox fan, and 2005 was a magical season. It was the first year I was interested in baseball, and I was only 6 when they won the World Series. It is something I'll never forget. I remember watching the World Series with my family, but I had to go to sleep during the later part of the game because it was past my bedtime. I remember waking up the next morning being so happy to see that they had won. It was an amazing time of baseball for me. I want to almost "relive" those moments by getting an autograph AND a blue refractor of everyone that played on the team that year. Whether they only played one game or all 162, I want them. Here's my progress so far. I know it's not much so far, but I hope to continually add pieces to this. This is a really meaningful project. Thanks for looking.

List of players/coaches. Bolded are the are the autographs I have. If the name is in blue, I have a blue refractor of them. If the name is both bold and blue, I have an autograph and a blue refractor of them.

Sweet idea! Love the story behind it. I remember that World Series well, although I was only 6 at the time as well

Jermaine Dye FTW

and wow, I clearly remember that walk-off bomb from Scotty Pods.

and while I reminisce about my 6 year old days, I, for some reason, liked Crede

Damn you're young!

I remember going down to the park for game one, just to soak up the vibe

And I'll always remember when we won it, getting off work ten minutes later and getting down to park as quick as I could, they clinched on the road and it was like 40 degrees and raining, but tons of folks made the treck and it was such a beautiful amazing night, screaming and running around Bridgeport. Ahhh such good times, what a year

I am doing the same thing with the 3 Red Sox World Series winners. Their RC, and an autograph. Its pretty tough since some guys dont have certified autos.

I was doing this with WS balls, but people just want outrageous money for guys like Pokey Reese or Mientkiewicz, etc.

OP - great start so far

Thank you. Now that I think about it, I turned 7 the day after they won it all. I have this in my room, and October 27 is my birthday.

Haha. That sounds like a ton of fun. I remember my parents and were screaming when Konerko hit that grand slam.

Very cool. There are a ton of obscure guys on the 2005 team so I'll have to be lenient on what I buy.

That's not a bad thing. I'm glad they put it away early.

i'd say the one that will set you back the most is the orlando hernandez auto. I need one for my mets collection and they always seem to go for a lot of money.

Thanks! I really liked him as a player. I remember when he broke his nose on the Phillies. That was crazy.

Really? That's surprising to me. I never thought he was that great, although he did come out of the bullpen in the ALDS with bases loaded and no outs and he didn't give up anything.

Thanks Tom! As an added challenge, I have also decided to try to get autos from all the coaches. I already have 2, so I'm happy.

Not much to report, but I did get Brandon McCarthy and Joe Borchard in. Knock 2 off the list.
