If you had bgs 9.5 with 4 9.5 subgrades why are you cracking.
Either sell the 9.5 or swap for the psa grade you desire

How does an 89 gem Griffey get Knocked to a PSA 5

Why the heck are you cracking out PSA 9's and BGS 9.5's? Getting greedy, are you?

Just goes to show what a joke professional grading is...

I don't get why PSA 9's are cracked either unless a sub bump.Should have been an obvious flaw with the PSA 5 Griffey, waste of money there.

I have been cracking and subbing for several years with pretty good success financially. I'm not sure what happened on these. I must have gotten that dreaded "Grader of Death" that people always talk about on the CU message boards. The difference between 9's and 10 can sometimes be thousands of dollars and it's a game I like to play. Sometimes you win and sometimes you do like I did today......LOL

Griffey 89 UD is worth about $150 more in PSA 10 than BGS 9.5.

Here's a fun one: Jeter 93 SP...

BGS 9.5 ($2k)

PSA 10 ($32k)

That's why someone would crack a BGS 9.5. It's gambling to a degree, but it could be lucrative if you're good at it.

You mean "lucrative if you're lucky at it".

Gamboooler is spot on!!!! That is exactly why I would crackout a BGS 9.5. I have done this many times and their was no damage during the crackout of any of these cards. I know that PSA is way stricter on the sticker on the back of 89 UD cards but I checked those as well and they were good to go. Someone earlier said there must have been an obvious flaw on the PSA 5 Griffey. I wonder if the obvious flaw was the 9.5 centering, the 9.5 corners, the 9.5 edges, or the 9.5 surface......LOL

The card is exactly the same now as it was before so how was this card ruined? It's not like I removed the card from the BGS holder and glued it in a scrapbook.....lol. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose when you play the crack and resub game and this time I lost.

Was probably damaged when cracked out of the BGS slab.FYI, there are no stickers on the back of those cards, they are holograms.

The card's not ruined, I shouldn't have said that. What is sad to me anyway is it was in a BGS holder with a MINT grade and great subs. I collect BGS/BVG graded cards so I hate to see it no longer exist as it was previously graded.

Yeah your right I meant hologram not sticker....lol. I have cracked out hundreds of cards out of both BGS and PSA slabs and I examine the cards again after cracking them out before subbing them so their was no damage to the cards when I sent them in. I don't have the cards back in hand yet to examine them because they just popped today. The Ed Walsh card has been graded by PSA 3 times and once by SGC prior to this submission so I am quite confident that it has not been trimmed.

Brutal sub bud. I'm surprised at the level of anger on this thread. People crack and resub all the time. Lots of people go the other way and crack PSA to submit to BGS as well. Not sure why people are giving you a hard time.

Like you said, you must've just gotten a bad grader having a bad day. Good luck when you send these in again!

You all ever think he bought a collection and was trying to turn a much larger profit? Who cares...Why knock someone who is trying to make as much money as possible? Not everyone is in this for collecting. Why knock the guy who sees dollar signs?
