I just purchased around 5000 baseball, basketball, football and golf cards. These cards came out of a storage unit and some have been put in large notebooks and some are in boxes. Feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of sorting and have no idea the value. Should I just stick them in my attic or take to a card shop? This is not a hobby I have any experience with so any advice would be appreciated.

Feel free to take a few pictures and post them up here. Obviously it won't be every card, but possibly enough to give you a rough idea of potential.

I can see how 5,000 cards would be overwhelming if you don't know anything about any of them.

Peterj, your best bet to start would be to find the oldest and newest card(s) in your collection. That will help you (us) gauge what you've got.

Yes, download an image hosting app (e.g. Photobucket), upload pics using the app, and then post the links here in your thread.

What made you purchase them in the first place? To re-sell? Don't go to a card shop without evaluating what you have in that lot! Get some pictures up and i'm sure some members here will be able to help you out!

you want to see anything late 80's early 90's. Those are the rarest and most sought after cards in the industry. You can throw away anything that looks to have an autograph on it. They have been out of the hobby picture for years. No value in them. If you're lucky you will stumble across some promotional cards with codes for various giveaways. Those are key right now.
