Look kid, before I go to "hek" let me give you some advice. When I was 12 years old I collected for the true love of it. I was stoked out of my mind when I pulled a Dwight Evans card or a Mike Greenwell rookie card, and believe it or not I actually put sets together. My goal was to collect as many Red Sox cards as I could, and also complete sets of each release.

Back then it consisted of Topps, Fleer and Donruss. It was a blast opening each pack, and I wasn't disappointed that I didn't pull a big hit, because there was no big hit. So here's the real secret, the card companies ruined this hobby for kids long before I ever thought about it. By making everyone chase one card out of a box, and making "base" cards worthless, they've completely gutted the heart and soul of the card collecting community.

I'm 31 years old today, and I still collect cards and build sets, and I'm still stoked to pull Red Sox cards. In fact I pulled a David Ortiz Dick Perez insert out of a pack of retail heritage at wal mart and I was wicked happy as us Mainers say. Point being, nothing can truly ruin the hobby for you except for your own perception of what it is. If you're a 12 year old kid collect your favorite team or your favorite player. If you get a jersey or autograph awesome, if not trade for the players you love. That's the whole key to collecting, and what once made this hobby great.

speaking of that n e 1 got any roy oswalt and yes i am 12 and i love colelcting my favorite teams ,players but pack searching just isnt right ive done it b4 and i didnt fill ood about it because i indid up with nothing it made me feel like a stealer searching is kinda like stealing to me and i dont put the cards in my bike
