In my neck of the woods I have 8 targets in a 100 mile radius. Every Wednesday morning I make a loop and hit up each one and pretty much do the same as you do Tarzan. It's AWESOME! I make so much money selling my hits on Ebay. Takes me only 3 hours and I clean out all the newest packs. I suggest everyone do it if they can. It gives you so much bang for your buck. I never pulled a $400.00 card, but I have pulled 2 AP autos and 3 Orange Refractors. Don't feel bad Tarzan, EVERYBODY does it. They just don't ADMIT it. Some people have a SUPEROIRITY complex. But deep down everyone wants the big pull. And knowing how to pull them helps. To the PREPARED goes the SPOILS.

You are not ruining the box for them. Kids don't know squat about cards. They are just happy to see some guy hitting a ball. Like you said they don't collect for value. They collect for the love. So who cares if they don't get a Mantle/Brooks. At least we now know it won't end up as a noisemaker on a bike. Now Tarzan can sell it to someone who really wants it.

Cause they already searched it and don't want others to find out. DUH

very nice card pulled, but I agree with everyone else. Searching is not the way to pull cards. Especially with retail boxes. Skell hit this nail right on the head. Retail is mostly for kids, and you are taking the odds away of them pulling something decent out of a retail box. There is a reason that all the companies began putting dummies into their packs. To try and hide the insert/relic so that the odds are the same for everyone to pull out a great card. It wansn't meant for someone to figure away around the dummies so that they could just purchase the only hits in a box. At my LCS you would be thrown out of their shop and banned because they can't stand searchers. Ripping is meant to be fun (for all ages). Are most of us on this board looking for that great hit.......sure we are. But the kids that purchase from retail boxes are ripping for the fun/enjoyment/and the hope that they pull their favorite player. The rest of us purchase hobby boxes/cases to get our hits. Ripping is meant to be enjoyable and "all out of luck" with the nice hits. I can't stand to know that some people show up to a local store every day they put out new merchandise just so that they can be the first person to sort through and find the hits to every box. Unbelievable!

Instead of "unbelievable" I would use the word LOSER!

The big question is, did you return the other 3 packs after you pulled the hit? I know I would have. That's the true pack searcher way

actually the word you are looking for is "smart." early bird gets the worm, right?

i would like to think of what vortek reffered to as "strategic planning."

I guess I see CB's point, screw UD, but at the same time it does hurt kids. Who cares if they know nothing about cards. Hypothetcially, that kid packs that card away...one day pulls it out of the shoe box its in when he 10-15 years older and finds out his sitting on something of value.

I mean, yeah. To make your profit, sure go ahead, but know what you are doing is somewhat unfair, maybe not to the card companies, but to everyone else buying packs out of that box.

Pack searchers are scumbags. Period.
This is why I either buy a box or singles. retail packs are a lost cause because of people like this. Too bad whatever you sell the card for wont buy you a conscience.

Well put and well said! Does UD screw us all when buying Hobby, of course they do! We all know this, but to deal with it by taking the chance that there might be 1 kid out there that knows to hold in safe keeping his card is just wrong. Should the card go to someone that is going to put it in a bike spoke; no, but not all kids do this. Some actually do hold on to their cards and add it to their collection. I am all for one making a buck; especially with as much as we all put into this hobby, but imo searching is just not the way.
