I have always said that there is nothing in the world as pathetic as a messageboard moderator. I have been saying that for about five years now, and I actually do put effort toward finding something more pathetic. No dice.

I can see having a single trade thread (in fact, I think it is better), but discussion is such a generic concept that for something that a lot of people care about, this is just dumb. A lot of people won't even read a long thread. Some threads become long solely because of off-topic arguing. Also, the pages can take forever to load (especially with those .sig files).

When my subscriptions run out next year (I bought four or five years of each three or four years ago because they had some $34.99 for two years promotion that at the time was unprecedented), I will not be back.

I disagree that all messageboard moderators are bad. I am a mod/admin on another site and I would like to think that I am not power hungry.

I think the same can be said for the mods/admins of blowout's forums.

I should not have generalized. I was thinking mostly of the late teens over at beckett. Someone like Pat who is a professional and has a career is totally different. The people in charge at beckett have given "power" to immature young adults and for the most part, they are not equipped to handle it from a maturity standpoint.

The Baseball guys are no where near as bad as that PRICK Floydtown and now he's got a buddy helping him and the new guy said in one post he had the do a phone interview before he was selected...Thats gonna look nice on the resume when he gets out of the USAF...

This is my first post here, and couldn't agree more with all of your thoughts on the beckett message boards. I have been a member here for a week just browsing around trying to see personalities, and looks pretty good so far, unlike that other site. I hope to get to know most of you guys on here and have fun talk baseball.

yanks, you'll come to see that unlike the other board, we can police ourselves and that although we all have our opinions and can debate/argue our points, we can have civilized DISCUSSIONS on the hobby and can still learn a lot from everyone.
