In his defense, the nice pics he has came from cards he pulled from a Jumbo case. He's saying he pulled the Strasburg out of Hobby and at his g/f's place which doesn't have a scanner. He never says he opened the hobby immediately after opening the Jumbo. So while I questioned the same thing about the difference in pictures, his explaination is certainly realistic and understandable.
I think bradical's photoshop job is proof that a fake could be pulled off well enough to fool almost anyone, but this just doesn't strike me as being a scam. I'm looking forward to seeing nice pictures of the card, and trust the OP will have them up at some point today.

True, or just another card sitting there altogether, whether it was a super or not. I still hold out hope that it's real, but there are quite a few good points on here that go both ways. We all know we've been fooled before.

True on both points. I think its real too but I started with a healthy dose of skepticism myself. If this were being done by a less reputable member of ebay/BO forums, I'd be a lot more skeptical. His story makes sense to me, but on the other hand, if I just pulled a potential $10,000 card, I think my g/f would understand if I ran out for a few hours to get good scans made and get the card properly up on ebay as quick as possible... especially if there were doubters about its authenticity.

I was kinda beliveing this at first. After reading through this incredibly long thread though, holy crap I must be bored, some of you guys have really good points. I am slightly starting to think that this might be a hoax more and more.

Still... I hope he has it, too, so we don't have to see more hoaxes for this card going forward. |

In fact, it will be interesting to see whether nice scans of the front and back will even put this debate to rest. I imagine some skeptics are so convinced they are right that they will call the new scans fake if/when they are posted.

I am guessing at this point that its faked. No way someone [IMO] would pull a card like that, and then list it without a scan of the card and instead just use a cheesy cell phone picture. Even if they did it to show the card here, no way you'd let it go this long with that bad of a picture; at least not if you had any common sense.
As to why someone would bother, well, people on the internet have a lot of time on their hands - hell, people off the internet have too much free time ...people make up/fake #@#@#@#@ all the time. |

While I have a handful of vintage cards, I am by no means a vintage collector. I will say that if I were to have that type of money to throw down on a single card, I would definitely go after a Mantle RC or a sweet '33 Goudey offering. It would be amazing to pass those treasures down to my kids. |

100 years from now, will anybody ever look at that Strasburg as a $12k card? I highly doubt it. Pitchers generally don't get as much love as fielders... Nolan Ryan is arguably the greatest pitcher ever. Actually, not really any argument there but.... Anywho, Ryan's cards will probably never touch the $12k plateau even 100 years after he's long gone. It just boggles my mind wondering what these free-spending prospectors really think they're buying?

I would (If I were in his shoes) to get a good couple of pictures on and open at .99 and let it go!!! you let it sell for what its worth and you only have to pay 9% FVF with the new ebay seller format.
