Default What's up with this plate?

I've already asked the seller, but perhaps the wisdom of this forum will know better. I've never seen a plate (I assume) so beat up.

2014 Bowman Brett Lawrie Black Printing Plate 1 1 178 Non Auto | eBay (Bet I screwed this link up again.) But the multiple instances of the Bowman logo, the wear marks across the face, etc. Was it due to packing?

I personally think it adds to it, just adds to the authenticity. I want a dirty printing plate personally.

It definitely makes it unique, but does it also make it more fragile? If I can get it for a reasonable offer, I'll make one. But I'd be worried about it breaking during transit or something. I know lots of plates break during the printing process. Does it being worn make it more prone to damage?

As Nick said these plates go through A LOT before they get put in packs. I'm always surprised they aren't MORE beat up, most of them are usually in pretty good shape all things considered.

He shouldn't call it Like New.
Quote:
Like New: An item that looks as if it was just taken out of shrink wrap. No visible wear, and all facets of the item are flawless and intact. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections.

But yeah, plates sometimes have residual ink, marks, etc. It won't make it more fragile.

I actually own a plate in my PC, that is much much worse for wear. Like someone above has said, adds to the "story" that it was actually used to manufacture the card, and the more beat up, the more you can believe the "story" from Topps or any other companies.
