Here are my newest additions to the collection. I was very happy to find such great cuts of Rogell and Manush. Many of the cuts I have seen have part of their names cut off. The "g" in Rogell is often cut as well as the first "H" in Heinie and the end "h" in Manush. Here they are:
2011 Topps "Topps 60" Jhonny Peralta ![]() Billy Rogell played for Detroit from 1930-1939 as a shortstop. He played in 2 World Series with Detroit (losing in 1934 and winning one in 1935). During the 1935 series he had an average of .292. 2011 SP Legendary Cuts "Black Cut Signatures" Billy Rogell #11/14 ![]() Heinie Manush played for Detroit from 1923-1927 as an outfielder. He was a career .330 hitter. He was an an all-star one time and played in one World Series in 1933 (with the Washington Senators). He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1964. He is one of the few former Tigers to have their name on the outfield wall of Comerica Park. 2007 SP Legendary Cuts Heinie Manush #08/10 ![]() Thanks for the look!

Here are the newest additions to the PC. I am really happy to get the Mayo Smith card.
1998 Team Best Dean Crow on card ![]() Mayo Smith was a manager in the Major Leagues from 1955-1970. He managed 4 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, 1 season with the Cincinnati Redlegs, and 4 seasons with the Detroit Tigers. Most importantly, he was the manager of the 1968 World Champion Detroit Tigers. In his 4 years with Detroit he had a win/loss record of 363-285. 2011 SP Legendary Cuts "Black Cut Signatures" Mayo Smith #3/6

Okay, so here are the newest additions to my Detroit Tigers autograph collection. The first card is pretty cool because I never even knew he had a card in a Detroit uniform and that is a requirement for my collection (I realize I am picky).
The second card I will let speak for itself, but I do want to thank Jeff (weedyalan) and Robert (iluvfish2) for finding the card for me at Nationals. 2010 Topps Opening Day Daniel Schlereth ![]() Here is the other addition.... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2004 SP Legendary Cuts Ty Cobb #16/18!!!! ![]() ![]() The card is actually a PSA 8 and I'm not an expert at graded cards, but I really don't see anything wrong with the card. I am happy regardless!!! Quick story: I was at the Nationals this year with my dad for 2 days looking for Detroit autographs I didn't have. Well, of course we were looking for a Ty Cobb. We had to leave on Friday and not even 45 minutes after we left I got a text from Jeff showing me this Ty Cobb card. I couldn't believe I had missed it! I learned it was up for auction and about a week later I bid and won (it was the weirdest auction I have ever been a part of). I have been waiting patiently for 2 weeks for my payment to arrive, my check to clear, and for the card to be shipped. It was worth the wait!

Here are a couple more additions to the collection. These are both actually upgrades from players I already had, but I really like having certified autos or, if I can find them, cards with the picture of the player on them. The Chet Morgan I had before was one of the Historic "In Memory" Edition cards. The other Joe Ginsberg card was from Diamond Signatures.
2011 Topps Lineage Morgan "Joe" Ginsberg on card ![]() 2002 SP Legendary Cuts Chet Morgan #15/27

Here are my two newest additions to the collection:
2011 Bowman Chrome Bryan Holaday on card (thanks mkal411 )![]() I also got this really cool autograph of Gee Walker. Gee Walker played outfield for Detroit from 1931-1937. He had a career .294 average and was an All-Star in 1937. He also was a part of the 1934 World Series team (Detroit lost to the Cardinals) and the 1935 World Series Champions (Detroit beat the Chicago Cubs). 2005 Donruss Signature Series Signature Stamps Gee Walker #1/2

Here a couple new additions:
2004 SP Authentic Future Watch Lino Urdaneta #142/195 ![]() I really like the Rudy York auto. The "y" is cut off a little on the bottom, but I got it for a decent price and the auto is dark and sharp. Rudy York played first base and catcher for Detroit from 1934-1945. He was an 7-time All-Star (5 of those with Detroit) and he also played in 2 World Series with the Tigers, winning one in 1945. 2011 SP Legendary Cuts Rudy York #2/6

He had a career record of 194-138 and 3.57 ERA. Well, it's been awhile and I really haven't found much to add to the collection. With the release of 2012 Topps Heritage I did find a new player autograph that I didn't have. I also have a couple more on the way and I will show those off when they get here. Here are the new additions:
2012 Topps Heritage Real Ones Red Ink Chico Fernandez on card #28/63 ![]() 2011 Topps Marquee Museum Collection Miguel Cabrera on card #06/10

Here is the newest addition to the PC. Nothing major, but I always love seeing older players from Topps Heritage (that I have usually never heard of). Special thanks to Deanninja for the card!
![]() Bob Anderson played only 1 season for the Tigers in 1963. He posted a 3-1 record with a 3.30 ERA. He played 6 previous seasons with the Chicago Cubs. 2012 Topps Heritage Real Ones Red Ink Bob Anderson on card #41/63

That is an awesome cobb and ernie!!!
I remember kyle sleeth was suppose to be the next big thing, then verlander came, and sleeth never did anything. And those Andy Van Hekken, remember driving to the south side of town to watch him pitch when i was a freshman, and he was a senior. When he got drafted by the mariners, people were going nuts in town. now they are going nuts over Kirk Cousins getting drafted....Games aren't the same on the radio without ernie though..... thanks for sharing. |
