Default The New York Yankees Thread

Yankee fans, come on in and talk about your favorite team - The New York Yankees!

This should be a place where we can air out anything on our minds about our favorite team. What are you guys looking forward to this season? Or, on the flip side, what are you guys most nervous about for the upcoming season?

For me personally, I can't wait to see my main dude Masahiro Tanaka pitch again. I'm praying he can get back to his old form from early last season.

I'm also a bit curious to see what happens with the youngsters in the minor leagues. I'm rooting for guys like Luis Severino, Aaron Judge, Rob Refsnyder, and Greg Bird. Can these youngsters stick around long enough and make an impact on the Major League Squad?

Can Brett Gardner and Jacoby Ellsbury become a lethal 1-2 punch on the top of the lineup?

How is A-Rod going to do? Is CC going to keep going downhill or can he have a bounce back year? Can Didi do an admirable job at SS?

Let's go Yankees!!!

I'll admit, I'm scared about Tanaka's health going forward.

Same here. Last year was brutal with CC, Tanaka, and Pineda going down. I think Tanaka and Pineda will be fine, I am worried about CC though.

Unfortunately, the elbow concern will always be there for some. But every report since he came back for the last two games of last season have been nothing but positive.

CC is gonna be a beast this year. He put his weight back on, he'll be good to go. Tanaka is going to return, if Pineda can stay healthy I like his chances. Hopefully Nova can come back from TJ, and I really hope we can get Refsnyder to the big leagues quick to replace Stephen Drew..

Really looking forward to watching Eovaldi (and that 98mph fastball) this year!

I know a lot of people will hate on it, but our lineup seems pretty deep all the way throughout.

Our lineup (obviously just my opinion)
Jacoby Ellsbury CF
Brett Gardner LF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Brian McCann C
Alex Rodriguez DH
Carlos Beltran RF
Chase Headley 3B
Stephen Drew SS
Didi Gregorious 2B

Starting 5(no particular order)
Masahiro Tanaka
Nate Eovaldi
Michael Pineda
Ivan Nova
CC Sabathia

Relief
Dellin Betnaces
Andrew Miller
Everyone else

To me, I'm pretty excited for thee season. Seems if everyone stays healthy, we can do some damage.

I'm excited to watch Didi!

I have a lot of Bowman color of his, so if he performs well I'm going to send it in for grading.

That's a big if.

CC is 34 and coming off knee surgey. I love how he pitched, but an off season rehabbing makes me concerned

Teixeira is turning 35 April 11, Beltran turning 38 on April 24, A-rod is turning 40 on July 27

No team gets through the season completely healthy, but we can only keep our fingers crossed

Yeah, completely understandable. I just hope the Yankees give the proper time off to those guys that need it. We have plenty of depth at basically all positions so I'm hoping that will help out big time with their health.

Articles in the paper are talking about Cashman said in a radio interview that there should never be another captain again. Is this guy crazy? We don't have to name another Captain anytime soon, but to say never is a bit harsh I think.

I'm looking forward to seeing if the new Yankees modeled after last year's Royals with great defense, good starting pitching (if they remain healthy), and great relief pitching works in New York. These are not the Bronx Bombers of old!

It was Cano's all day long and he threw it away for more money in a crappy stadium.

No problem with another captain but you don't just give it out because there isn't one.

Completely agree. Only name someone if they are truly deserving. I won't mind having to wait a few or more years to have the next captain. But to say never again I wouldn't like that as a fan.

I'm very nervous about the pitching not holding up. It's asking for a lot out of a considerably deteriorated Sabathia, Tanaka's elbow which I believe will fail him eventually, can the team get anymore more than a handful of starts from Pineda, will Eovaldi mature into his power and what the hell we're going to get from Nova when he returns. I'd like to see some kids step up and push for the rotation.

Sooner or later you guys will have Luis Severino, aka the next Pedro, also dealing.

We've seen that when healthy, Tanaka and Pineda can be tremendous. Ivan Nova was pretty good a few years back, hoping he still has it. C. C. is back to 300 lbs. I think Miller/Betances can be a great duo. Hoping the pitching runs smoothly, offense will follow if that happens. Let's go Yankees!

Looking at our lineup gives me stomach pains, gonna take some time to get used to. Hoping Pineda has a good year, I think the kid could have a great career if he focuses.

Would like to see some guys in our farm system come up and do well too.
