Default What are some of the coolest '90s inserts?

I'm looking to diversify my Twins collection a little bit- The majority of what I have is from 2007ish to now, mainly because that's when I started seriously collecting. Don't get me wrong, I love what I have, but I'm just looking to diversify a little bit. I decided that some '90s inserts would be a good place to start! I'm looking for some advice as to what some super cool '90s inserts are. I know there are a ton of sweet ones out there, I just don't know much about them yet (other than the first refractors from Finest). Ideally they'd be not the easiest cards to find, but not impossible either. I do like things where I can try to build rainbows as well. But really, anything that just looks really cool would be great. I'd like to get to know more about some of the cool, obscure '90s stuff, and figured one of the best ways to do so would be to dive right in. So, any suggestions? Thanks!

Sorry to hijack this thread but does anyone know what some of the coolest 90's inserts are? I'm too lazy to do a search...

Wow, ok, I guess asking for suggestions on what to collect from an era I don't know a whole lot about is too much to ask. Sorry for wasting precious seconds of your life

Edit- For the record, I Google "cool 90s baseball card inserts" and all of the top results are people asking if their '90s cards are worth anything

I'd just take a peak at the 90s insert thread and see what you like. There was also just a thread on the rarest 90s inserts.

OP, I honestly thought you were joking with how often this question has been asked. Maybe someone can link some of the threads to help you out.

90s were my collecting heyday. The various parallels in 1996 Select Certified is a good place to start. I collect Yankees, so I have the team set except Jeter in Mirror Red, which cost me about $100. Beautifully designed, they blow refractors out of the water. You probably could go a step up for a challenge and get Mirror Blues of Twins players; only Puckett will cost you more than say $25-$30.

If you are looking for inserts only, my favorite uncommon sets were 1994 Flair Hot Gloves, 1997 Topps Gallery Peter Max serigraphs, and 1998 Donruss Crusade.

Skybox rubies, flair legacy collection, finest refractors, ultra thunderclap, it kinda depends on if u are looking for rare expensive ones, or just nice cards. I personally love all the 90s ultra inserts--hr kings, award winners, strikeout kings, etc. I also like the donruss elite inserts from the early to mid 90s, they were the first big chase insert sets.

Topps Gold Label, Flair Showcase Legacy Collection, Skybox Rubies, Ex 2001 Credentials, Ultra Platinum Medallions, Upper Deck Encore Gold, Collector's Choice Gold Signatures, etc are all collectible parallels I'd think.

My favorites were the stuff that was numbered. The Credential for instance. Also Intimidation Nation. I think there were only 99 of those. As already mentioned the select "mirror" cards were beauties! When Flair Showcase first came out they were beautiful cards too. Great gloss finish! Bunch of cool stuff from the 90s.

From the 90's Flair Showcase from 1997-99 is my favorite all time overall design/quality with Topps Gold Label next.
