Arrow All your guys fault I bought one box of Black

Last year I bot a box of Black and got a terrible box -- Laimbeer/50 and a Howard/Redick. Then I bot a case of black and got perhaps the worst case in existence. So I swore off UD Black...until I saw all these comments here about all the great cards you guy's have been getting.

I even went to order a box but then stopped myself. But I just couldn't resist.

I broke down and ordered just one box. My box arrived today.

First card - I see a flag reflecting off the inside before I even open it.
Bill Walton Flag patch Auto to 50.

Meh, not great, could be worse I suppose. I could get another Jason Smith or JaVale McGee auto in which case I would set myself on fire.

Second card - I pull it out I see a Bulls logo on the back. Hmmmm. Last year when this happened it was a Kirk Hinrich auto'd to 10.

NBA 50 Greatest Players Michael Jordan Auto'd to 50.

So, I now have 3 MJs that came from single boxes of UD, and none that came from any of my 8 cases of Black, Ultimate, Exq, Chrono, etc.

You're right. No one should've pressured you into something like that. I'll let you know where to send the MJ so we can forget this whole thing ever happened.

Seriously, though...nice pull!

Yeah, actually I figured UD owed me from last year's awful case.

I'll post pix later.

Amusing [or not] I've bot whole cases containing 36 boxes of UD and gotten no MJ hits of 8 A levels total [and no Kobe's or Russell's or Bird's either!]

I've bot 15 individual hobby boxes and gotten 3 MJs, an LBJ to 10 and a Bird/Magic to 5. [and still no Kobe or Russell!] I should never buy another case again!

My overall hit ratio is 50% higher when not buying a case. It's all variance, which is why I laugh when people see a week's worth or a dozen cases and proclaim a product to be 'great' or a 'dud.'

I mean, it makes as much sense if not moreso to say you should avoid the early 'great' product because so many good pulls are gone, and buy the 'dud' ones, given a fixed A-level Auto ratio.

Don't worry I buy cases and boxes and MJ/LBJ/KB have always been dodging me so maybe I'm due for a triple of them

Maybe you should buy some UD instead of Topps?

Funny thing is I have the same issue as you do. Last year I bought a case of Ultimate from Chris because of the guaranteed "A" auto and did not get a Jordan auto as I had hoped for. Flash forward a year later I go to the TRI STAR card show and buy 1 box of Radiance and pull my first Michael Jordan Autograph.
