I'm looking to sell a 1987-88 Fleer Magic Johnson card that is graded a BGS 9.5. It's one of only 3 copies graded a BGS 9.5, none are graded higher and it's rarer than his 86-87 Fleer card (38 BGS 9.5s vs. 3 BGS 9.5s).
The card is so rare that it doesn't have a price listed with it in the new Beckett Graded Card Collector Annual. Willing to sell it for $185 delivered.

BUMPING, there must be some Magic collectors out there. This is a beauty and very difficult to find at this condition.

you do know why only 3 are graded right???? its because it just isn't worth that much........I'd be surprised if you got $40 for it!!!
if it was worth 50 or more, I guarantee there would be alot of these sent in!!!!!!!! |

Where do I begin with this?
A) Thanks for the free bump. B) Stop trolling negativity on other people's posts C) You obviously know NOTHING about grading. There have been 5,234 cards graded from that set, only 351 have been graded a 9.5 or higher (6.7%). There have been 233 copies of THIS card graded, only 3 are 9.5 (none higher) = 1.3%. That means, odds are that only 1.3% of the copies of this card are in this condition. Therefore, it's actually pretty rare to find THIS card in THIS condition and you're likely to NEVER find a copy of this card in better condition. D) Compare this to the coveted 1986-87 Fleer basketball set where 34,555 cards have been graded and 4097 have been graded a 9.5 or better (11.9%). Seems like the 1987-88 Fleer set might be a little tougher to get in this condition than 1986-87. E) I've already had an offer of $150 that I passed on, as I'm perfectly fine hanging onto this card if no one will pay my asking price.

EDIT: Also, Chuck Person, Detlef Schrempf, and AC Green had BGS 9.5s sell for $45-50. Last edited by jr24ai3; 06-21-2012 at 07:28 PM. |

granted, it's all relative, but have there not long been rumors that 87-88 was printed in far less quantities than 86-87? either way, i have a lowly Jordan PSA 8 from 87-88 and it is one of my favorite cards.
