Default Sports card and memorabilia insurance

Hello all,
Not sure if anyone has ever posted anything like this, but I thought it was worth asking. I started getting into collecting again once D Rose was drafted to the Bulls....I, like many others, am starting to get some high value cards and sports memorabilia. My question is this.....do any of you collectors have a separate insurance policy on your collection in case of theft, fire, or a tornado? I've been thinking about it because I've been told that unless you have an itemized list and proof of the items in the event of a loss, you really can't make a claim on your homeowners insurance. Let me know your thoughts!

I know that this company exists: Collectibles Insurance - Protecting Books, Stamps, Antiques and other Rare and Vintage collections in Baltimore, Maryland, but I do not have collection insurance myself.

Thanks for the info!! I'll contact them and see what their price range is compared to my current insurance carrier....

I have renters insurance and i had them add in a 5000 dollar loss for sports memorbillia. it cast a few but i feel it was worth it... ( that was the max they would go without an itemized list. my collection would cost me at least triple to replace but at least i have something. I am working on an itemized list for the mew policy)
