Default to grade or not to grade???

I know if you get a good grade on a card that the value increases. But I've never got a card graded and I'm not sure what cards I have are worth grading. Who is the best to get cards graded through, how much does it cost, and do I have anything to worry about as far as mailing off a $400 card. This is one card I'd like to get graded, just wondering if I should

Why not in my opinion. For one it would be nicely protected in the BGS slab. Also, if it's in great condition a BGS 9.5 or by chance a 10 would be fantastic. If it grades lower and you don't like it just crack it out.

Im a BIG BIG fan of having cards slabbed, but imo this is one of those cards that just doesnt need it.

SV will not be that big a premium slabbed vs raw.

If you are doing it for resale value then I say no...due to the above reasoning. If you want to keep in in your pc and protect it from drops, mishandles, etc, then I say at least slab it as authentic auto and don't worry about the grade.

I normally only grade Rookie year cards....many of my D Rose high end cards are graded just because once slabbed they are protected! I've also been grading many of my refractors from Topps and Bowman. I keep most in my PC, but on occasion do sell some to buy more of what I don't have.
I did recently grade an MJ out of UD Premier and it graded a BGS9.5....

Thanks for all the compliments, I may not get the auto graded, but I have some older MJ rare Topps Finest refractors and gold die cuts ect. Wouldn't it be worth doing some of those?

generally with non RCs, I would only consider grading if:

its worth $100+ ungraded and looks to be BGS 9+

its worth $50+ ungraded and looks to be BGS 9.5+

it looks to be flawless and has a decent chance at BGS 10

well, cant you just get slabbed or "authenticated". i have a jordan/erving dual auto that i wanted to get slabbed but might not do it. but i was thinking the same thing....should i. The down side to grading, if the case gets scuffed or scratched, your card is stuck in that case. keeping it safe in a one touch with team bag allows you to keep that sweet card in a clear case all the time.
