They only traded away their backup PG Bayless and Peja, who isn't even playing to my knowledge, so it is not like they lost much. If the Hornets lack of play lately is due to the trade, then CP3 should take initiative and step his game up and lead his team to some victories. That's what the best players/PG's in the game do.

I am saying that Deron is the basketball player. He has more size which is a huge advantage, he is less injury prone, he can play both guard positions, he can defend both guard positions, his team has a better record, and Deron has the Playoff experience and success that Paul does not have.

Anyways, aside from that, did you agree with everything else I said regarding Deron vs CP3?

you are must not have been watching the rockets lately but kyle lowry is the best pg in the league!

=)

Seriously though, over the past month in fantasy since he has been starting, only dwill, cp3, and felton are ranked ahead of him. And the best thing about lowry is that he is known as a guy who does so many things that do show up on the stat sheet. He draws charges, plays lock down D, gets about 5-10 deflections per game, and good god is the man clutch.

Ok realistically, talent wise, hes not in the same league as those other guys but my boy is a player!

All you are basing your opinions is points and assists ?

As Sac showed you the stats do the talking , not to mention DWill has a lot more mins on the floor than Chris maybe has something to do with it ?

Not to Mention teams i think Utah are carrying more arsenal than Hornets as well as more stability coach/owner etc..... ?

Yes you are right Chris has not had a huge game yet but very steady if you would call this his slump/Resting period/Injury recovery he is still putting up solid numbers.
I would say Hornets Crash is attributed to the on/off nights of his team mates when most fire they are pretty hard to stop as they have shown in glimpses but it's a two/three man show on any given night .
I mean Trevor Ariza has not done much either has Bellineli, DWest has been solid and Okafor is not a offensive threat then you have Chris.

In regards to Playoff stats yes you are right and college for that fact but I am talking about allround PG that can dish 12 ast 20 pts 4 stls 7rebs and lead a hack team you take from it what you want.

Not to take anything from DWill I actually have them on the same level and to split hairs would be for different attributes and yes he has had a very great year so far but to discount Chris is not correct as i still believe and his stats still prove allround defensively and offensively he is still number 1
( even though he is still coming back of injury prone season last year )

These two guys stand apart from the rest yes Rose can be the Clutch man Chicago needs and yes rondo can dish 20 dimes on a night but can they do it all ?

1. CP3
2. Rondo
3. DW
4. Nash
5. Rose
6. Kidd

Chris Paul is hands down the best PG. From shooting to handling to soft touch to passing, in rhythm, I take him. He's easier to compare to DW in the way they pass and run an offense. Rondo is a bit different because he shoots so little, shoots poor etc. Needless to say Rondo breaks down a defense and sets up his offense better than anyone in the NBA. For this, given the rest of the team Boston has in place, he has to be put right behind Paul, and is definitely a better fit for Boston than CP3 would be.....

DW obv better than Nash who has lost a full step..... but still great. Rose, as talented as he is, he is erratic and doesn't look to pass first. He isn't automatic at the FT line yet either. I'd possibly move him up on the list if he was a 90% FT shooter, ignoring his inability to set guys up as well as the rest, and be a steadying force, the true function of any PG.

Obviously all of these players are amazing, and each is irreplaceable. The fact that one may be better than the other means very little as the effect they have on their team means much more than their individual ability.

had to bump this thread.

If you read through this it will give pretty good insight to how often people flip flop and bandwagon.

CP3 is and always will be the best.

Just two years ago, most people were picking Deron Williams as a better point guard. a laugher, really

Rondo/Paul/Rose(healthy)

Each of the above do something better than the other. Just depends on the system and what you're looking for.

Everyone else.

Not a single mention of Tony Parker????

Worth a look at top 5 I think! Definitely ahead of Kidd and possibly better than a couple other ones listed??

The only PGs to get MVP in the last 20 years are Iverson, Nash and Rose.

Nash's golden years are long gone; Rose will return. Unfortunately no one will sign AI so he can't be MVP anymore

How does this make any sense? Rose plays the point guard position. If you would've said Lebron, you would've been correct & appropriate

It really depends on what you define as a point guard...
If you believe that a point guard should run the show by BEING the show (scoring), then it's
CP3 hands down.
If you believe that a point guard should be true to his position and be a true point guard (assisting) then it's Rondo hands down. It's not biased, Rondo has broken countless records and has led the league in assists for a long time with numbers that are through the roof.

rondo does lead the league in assists, but he turns the ball over quite a bit...
cp3
leads the league in assist/to rating 4.43
rondo 3.25

do love rondos 2.08 steals a game...
but cp3 leads the league at 2.71..

i think steals are one of the most underated stats..
besides getting the defensive stop, the steal usually leads to an easy basket chance...lots of times breakaways..

CP3.......Rondo, Westbrook, Parker, Rose........Williams, Irving, Holiday, Jennings, Lawson.

Those are my tiers. Just watching Williams this year, killing coaches too, and just plain old sucking...I am sorry, he isnt a top PG anymore. He hasnt been since he came to Brooklyn

What I meant was that in terms of the best point guard in the traditional sense (setting up the offense, running plays, excellent court vision and passing, adept at pick and roll, knowing how and when to quicken or slow the game, ball handling), CP3, Rondo, DWill, and Calderon were the best.

But if you watch basketball you'll find out Drose doesn't play traditional point. So it was just a different way to view the question, that's all. When the OP asked for the best point guard I offered two angles; the best traditional point guards and the most gifted/skilled players who, on paper, are listed as point guards but really challenge the definition of the position (ie. Rose, Westbrook, S. Curry, etc.)
