Topps Hardwood

Anybody else getting any of this next week? I thought it looked pretty nice and ended up ordering a case. I liked the look of a lot of the parallels and the GU/auto cards. I haven't seen much talk about it, so maybe I'm going to be wishing I hadn't gotten any!! I'm doing it some for myself and some to get a little money back.....I'll try to post my break here (on the break forum) if people are interested.

Well with the shortened rookie auto patch/jersey checklist, i think its a good buy, especially for $65. BUT, then again you'll see 10 rose's pulled on the first day of release and they wont be worth as much. Its a double edged sword for the companies.

But with a case you're gonna pull something decent i imagine ;]

the overall resale value for BKB is pathetic........if you like to collect BKB, just buy what you want straight up. if you like to break to resale, pick another sport.

Basketball, at least for me, isn't a great rip and flip sport period.

preordered 1 case with live -30%. 6840 boxes isn't very much, should do ok.

will definitely help if they add fernandez. some of his co-signer parallels were going for more than rose.

I should have mentioned that I ended up getting mine through cashback and will end up paying about $52 a box......and yes, it was from Blowout!!

I have actually had good luck breaking basketball--I haven't done a lot of cases....only Bowman Chrome the past 2 years, but it has been a fun break and I've made out OK. I never expect to make money--just hope to get some cards I want and make enough back that I feel like what I spent was worth the cards I got and the enjoyment of the break. If I get a "big hit", all the better!! This looked like something fun and with the big discount I got, I thought it may end up doing OK.

As an aside, I was expecting a number of different responses, but if I were a betting man(and I am!) I still would never have guessed the above response would be in the thread. Some people make things interesting!!

I think the big hits will bring in some good money. Could be the sleeper box of the year. Wish I had more than a couple boxes coming.

I bought a pack of 07/08 today. I'm not sure I like these cards yet. I'll buy a couple packs when it comes in and if I get hooked, grab a box or two and see if I can't pull another Sonny Weems auto.

Just make sure you wear a diaper when you answer the door, it can be quite an emotional experience.

I just checked on my order for Topps Hardwood and now the release date has been bumped up to January 28th. Wtf?!?! What happened to the December 31st release date?

This time of year release dates bounce all over the place, you can't really expect them to stick to their dates.

Oh, wow!! Well, there goes my plans for a nice break over the last half of my vacation!! I'm glad I checked back to my thread--I'd be sitting here wondering where the heck my cards were. Now I need to wait another month

I know release dates jump around, but this one has been at 12/31 for a long time and now all of a sudden, a day before release it goes ahead by a month. That does seem a little strange.....hopefully it's for a good reason! I had planned to order a case of Topps baseball for February.....now I won't have the time or the extra cash to do one or two of them. Hardwood better be good to me!!

At least I have a box of Fleer ordered for Jan. 6th to hold me over till Hardwood comes out at the end of the month...
