Oh I see what you're talking about... those clear plastic slide-out thingies. I would imagine them being fine in there, but I wouldn't chance it myself. I would only keep mine in either a wooden or cardboard box where they're totally in the dark. Also in a cool and dry place.

Only one way to find out though. Take pictures of before and after a year, or two years... But do you wanna take that chance? It's up to you.

I see it this way. Not sure if this will be a good example but here it goes... I think not protecting your cards to the fullest when it comes to light, is like having a nice autographed jersey and then putting it on to play basketball with LOL it makes no sense to me

You can go on ebay and buy 5,000 count cardboard boxed for real cheap! But like I said, i'm sure they should be fine where you have them right now, but me personally, I wouldn't take that chance to find out later. Total darkness only for me.

Hope this helps.

Well, I didn't say shoe boxes... The 5,000 count boxes that have(I believe) 4 rows for storing cards, but I think they can only be in top loaders if you want to put them straight up(the regular way). But I think you get fit graded and one touches laying down...

Anyway, this is what I use ----> Graded Card Box - Wood [Black]

Great heavy duty wooden box, the best imo. I'm very happy with this box and going to buy more very soon!

Any other questions??? Feel free...

Hmm that box looks nice, Gio! How many boxes do you have?
Seems a bit pricey though...any other alternative you're using?

Well actually the Chipboard is only $29.99, compared to $70 for the Wood
Do you buy the Wooden box or Chipboard?

This box is the best!!! I am so happy with this box... Yes, it is a bit too high but this is the best way to store cards imo.

I use the wooden box, not the chipboard. They are a bit pricy but I think they lowered their price. I think when I bought it, it was about 75 bucks, but could be wrong.

I actually only have one at the moment, with the rest of my cards in shoe boxes and 5,000 boxes all around the house, so this is why I want at least 2 more of these wooden boxes so I can get nice and orgazined. I literally have no clue how many of the 50 greatest players autos I have or don't have, so I better get orgazined fast or else i'll buy doubles... lol

but yeah man, you will not regret this box, they're great!

Btw, Celticsfan... yes, you can put cards that are in top loaders in this wooden box or the chip board boxes as well. Also, you can fit graded cards(BGS, PSA...) or cards in one touches... Big or small, you can fit them all hahahaha Ok maybe not tall boys lol

Celticsfan, ask me ONE MORE QUESTION and i'm gonna let you have it!!! hahahaha j/k

Another sad story... smh

Jordan faded autograph

RARE MICHAEL JORDAN AUTO #ed/50 1999 UD MASTER COLLECTION MJ1 ON CARD AUTOGRAPH! | eBay

What that same card should look like

1999-00 Upper Deck Master Collection Signature Auto Michael Jordan /50 BGS 9.5 | eBay

Priceless!

Protecting your cards cost nothing... For everything else there's paypal.

^^^ My poor attempt at a master card commercial haha

You guys protecting those cards? I hope so.

Ouch!! Two more lost to the light...

What's funny is, the seller(s) still want 125 bucks for the Iverson and $88 for the Robertson lol

So sad but the truth! Keep those cards protected.

I'm even more worried than you! haha

At least now you're aware so you can take extra care...

Best bet is to keep them in boxes. Plain and simple solution. I too would love to display my cards on walls and tables... just not worth it. I'd rather look at them from time to time to ensure they won't fade.

Yeah, makes me not want to even have any sitting out on my TV stand! Only positive thing is that I hardly ever have my bedroom light on and the sun never hits my TV stand haha I only have a few out on it. Rest are tucked away INSIDE the TV stand!

Jin, I was thinking the same thing! lol

I hope I won't have to resort to just gu because I love my autos, but light is no jock, that @(*^$#(*^&@#)*(&#!!! hahahaha

I can see myself getting some frames for my jersey cards, but never autos.

HAHA! We think alike. I had my tv stand filled!!! Some were in boxes and some loose, but I would always have something on top of them to keep the light away. Good thing for my wife telling me to get them out... I never had my good cards there but still. Even my "common" autos are in boxes now.

I think you guys are getting a little carried away now with this whole thing. I still do not believe that a card slabbed and displayed in a 100% UV free case that never see's sunlight will display any signs of fading. Sure I purchase cards hoping for a little return down the road but I refuse not to enjoy/display them out of fear of having an auto fade.

i've seen a shop put UV protective sheets over the toploads of autos. It seems to work.

What do you mean? Are you saying that you think even in UV cases and in boxes, they can still fade? I hope not. Do you mean with heat/hot wheater? That's why I always have the AC on blast when the first signs of heat...

To date, I haven't had any problems with any autographs fading, so I think it's been working. I have autographed cards that I had since 1995 and they too are not faded. Even one's from 1997 and so on, all in the same shape that they always were in. None of these cards i'm talking about were in any graded case, but just in penny sleeves and top loaders.

If you choose to display your cards and are not worried then that's great, fine. But you never know when you might want to sell or trade that card because you no longer wish to collect that particular set/player...

VERY responsible guy! I've never seen any shop do this. I see it this way, most shops just smack those autos in the cases and don't care if they're sitting there for years and years, they just care about a sale. So yeah, I take my hat off to this guy. Tell him I said so... lol

If you change it from wood to chipboard the price goes from 79.99 to 34.99

Yeah the chipboard should work just fine, but I would guess only for top loaders... not sure how it would hold up if you deceided to pack it with one touches or anything heavy.

I have the wooden box filled with all graded cards, both BGS and PSA and no problem at all. I wouldn't do that with the chipboard, only because if I were to pick it up the wrong way the box might slit in half and the cards all over the floor, possibly damaging them. But the wooden box is strong and will have no problems with.

If you're putting cards in top loaders then no problem, but I wouldn't recommend that box for one touches and/or graded cards. But you never know it might work.

What do you guys think about the auto on this card? Did Ray just use a black sharpy or is the auto faded to black?
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

Looks like he used a thicker marker and it's not really fading, it's just skipping a little... Believe or not, skipping like that is accepted more so than fading, and matter of fact, card companies have even gave cards with skipping a perfect 10 grade. Actually, I wouldn't use the word "skipping" but instead, it's a little on the light side, like the marker was running out. But like I said, i've seen perfect 10 grades on these types. You can tell right away when a card is faded. Although I haven't seen another one of these cards to compare to, but it doesn't look faded to me. Some player deceide to use their own maker for whatever reason, or maybe the one given to them ran out or something.
