Isn't he a free agent (possibly restricted) at the end of the year? Wonder if he'll end up on another team where he can start.

thats my boy !
put it this way. put him on the wizards/nets/warriors they are a ligitimate playoff chance of the 6-8 seeds. hopefully he will take a slight pay cut to stay with the thunder to win several champion ships in the next 5-6 years. the thunder are that good.

how many franchise players do you think there are in the NBA then? i don't think Harden is a franchise player mysef and i think there are maybe 10 or so real franchise players in the league to begin with. and any team with a good supporting cast can make the playoffs with or without a franchise player (Indiana, Atlanta, Utah, Memphis). guys who i label as franchise players include Kobe, Dwight Howard, Lebron, Rose, Duncan, and CP3 for example.

As a Mavs fan, I wanted to hate Harden, but I can't. He seems like a great guy, doesn't ever complain or whine, plays hard and is an all around team player. He's clutch and reliable.
One thing that killed me though, 99% of the time he drove to the hoop he took about 4-5 steps and was NEVER called for a travel. He sometimes takes those strides which is not illegal, but most of the time he travels on drives to the hoop. I'm actually rooting for OKC now, anyone but the Lakers & Heat!!! |

While I do love Hardens game I dont know if id call him a franchise player. Could he lead a sub-par franchise to the playoffs? That remains to be seen. I do believe hes the ultimate complimentary player as he doesnt need to dominate the basketball to be effective, his skills are very Manu esq. Can shoot the open 3, hit the 18 footer, penetrate finish at the basket and penetrate dish. Very shifty
I dont know the exact numbers but I think the Perkins deal will prohibit the thunder from keeping both harden and ibaka.

If they keep Harden and let Ibaka go, they will be lacking too much in defense and in the paint IMO. Agree Harden made it happen this year along with the big 2, but if he was on the pay that a player of his calibre gets elsewhere, they would have to surround him with scrubs in order to keep under the cap! |

I think for thunder, ibaka might be more valuable than james harden. There's a reason they have james harden on the bench (which i'm sure he doesn't enjoy that much). Between durant and westbrook, there's just not enough shots to go around. But you never know how james harden will turn out once he goes somewhere else and needs to carry a team.

Thunder are just so good as a team - Harden can be a franchise-player , just not on a Championship team probably ...
Although if you switch him and Ginobili right now, he could be the Spurs' best player and obviously they could win the whole thing with him. He would just have to have a really good supporting cast like the Spurs team has now ... As a Mavs fan , Thunder just destroyed us - They have 3 Legit offensive Forces, the best shot-blocker in the game, and countless other role guys that get the job done |

I am taking any action from people who actually think Harden will be on any team other than the Thunder next year.

Yeah. I can agree with this. I don't see why he couldn't take the same type of role as Brandon Roy once did.
They have different qualities. I don't think Harden is as good of a one on one player the way Roy was, but he's composed and is always able to take his time to do what he wants to do, and that part of his game reminds me of Roy. But definitely, he can easily average over 20 ppg and make an impact with his playmaking if he was the main guy. I always believed this to be the case with Manu Ginobili too, but he sacrificed to stay with the Spurs. Will Harden? I doubt it. Too good, too early. The man may seek a near max contract and I'm not sure the Thunder can keep him even if they amnesty Perkins
