So if they trade for Joe Johnson, they probably wouldn't re-sign Gerald Wallace... So in a nutshell, Billy King would probably trade next year's first round draft pick for JJ, he would have traded this year's sixth overall pick for Gerald Wallace who played 13 games with the team.... I really wonder what he's doing with our franchise sometimes...

Totally agree. He was terrible with the Sixers. Once Larry Brown left (who was not my favorite talent evaluator but at least got the players to play), King hired one terrible head coach after another and made one terrible deal after another.

Some of the second options he brought in for AI included....

Overweight Derrick Coleman
Washed up Chris Webber
Washed up and fat Glenn Robinson
Keith Van Horn who stuck around for a Season
Signed Matt Geiger to an almost max deal.

He also unloaded Theo Ratliff and Toni Kukoc for an end of useful career Mutombo. Yes he was good for the Finals run, but he essentially killed the team for future runs.

Other great drafts... passed up Paul Pierce and Nowitzki for Larry Hughes when everyone in town was clamoring for Pierce.

This guy is terrible and I have only touched on his ineptitude above.

If every rumor about the Nets were true their team would have at least 10 all stars who aren't they trying to get?..

I stand corrected and the deal makes no sense,BUT league sources say a deal all but in place:

Joe Johnson
for
Farmar
Petro
Morrow
Williams(I think Shelden)
Stevenson
protected 1st round pick from Houston

Nets will have no shot at bringing in Dwight after this once Deron reups

JJ $20 million
Wallace $10 million
Deron whatever million

leaves no room for Dwight

why are the nets giving the hawks a first round pick
The nets should be receiving a first round pick

If you consider half bad to be decent in the East - which it isn't.

Joe Johnson is nothing but a Rashard Lewis contract at this point.

The trade does nothing in the grand scheme of things for the Nets as far as competing with the top few teams in the East - and definitely not the top teams in the league overall.

The basic outline of the deal, as reported yesterday, will likely send Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, Anthony Morrow and Jordan Williams to the Hawks, along with a first-round pick and a signed-and-traded DeShawn Stevenson

Yep. Unless JJ or Wallace are part of a package going to Orlando in exchange for Howard (and I have no idea why Orlando would want either of those two), those salaries would seem to make Deron and Howard mutually exclusive.

Can't believe Danny Ferry got a 1st round pick (and alot of space) out of that JJ contract. Why he couldn't do that in Cleveland...

I want to be a fly on the wall when someone explains the trade to Dwight Howard.

Amazing he got that contract off the books and a pick. Be interesting to see what they do with all that space

Dwight is gonna be the laughing stock of the league very soon,if he's not already

Too much $$ tied up in JJ and Wallace to bring Mayo in.

Be curious to see if Kidd follows Deron to Brooklyn and what bigs they can scrape up when the dust settles

What bonehead move awaits from Dolan
