Default Help....I need your opinion..I believe I am scammed...Let me know your thoughts

Hi,

I already made several trades here with great people and now I have a dilemma. I need to get your opinion if I was scammed or not and what I should do... I am only 2 months old here...I need to get your opinion first before I alert everyone about this trader (if you guys think I was scammed)

I made a trade here on BO recently. I gave out a John Wall RC Auto and an Eric Gordon RC Auto Parallel and I traded it out for a Kobe Bryant Auto.

Both of us have positive feedback I have 5 and he has 4.

So to be sure, I went the extra mile and mailed it on expressmail with tracking and with delivery receipt. I also added insurance just to be safe.

In this case, the trader and I should have sent the cards at the same time. But what happened now is, he sent me a message and sent me a picture of the envelope that I sent and it is open WITH NO CARDS

he claims it is in his mailbox when he checked it out but like I said I paid $30 for shipping just to arrive on his place fast and for the mail to need a signature before he receives it.

I tracked the package and it said it was sent successfully. I called the postal service and indeed they say that the customer signed the package and at the same time, they won't let the customer have an "OPEN" package instead they'll return it back to my address and let me know that it was opened upon delivery.

Trading partner still says that he is not trying to scam and that he received it that way without the John Wall Auto and Eric Gordon pallel auto /50.

I am just a little afraid because I just saw him on a new thread replying to another person and offering some trades again. Please let me know your thoughts and what to do...

Good thing, I placed insurance to it. Like I said it was a $30 mail shipping I paid. Good for me...

Sounds fishy. If he signed for it, it wouldn't have been in his mailbox, it would have been in his hands, and he would have known right away there was nothing in it.

who is the member?

No one signs for a package if its been opened and the contents are missing. He is trying to scam you.

Here is what you do since you bought insurance. You go the PO and open an investigation on the fraud. Give the name and full address of the person and ask them to look into possible mail fraud as he is trying to steal your item that is insured. Hopefully they find him guilty and sent this tart to jail

Never had any problems with express mail (sending or receiving) and if my mailman showed up with an express package and it was opened I would NOT touch it. I would tell him it was opened and ask him for his advice but I would not take the package. Sounds like you are getting scammed and you need to call out the guy so he doesn't pull this with anyone else.

Also if you have insurance they let the post office know what happened and they will get involved since they have to cover the cost of the package. I am sure they will go to the mail carrier and ask them if the package was damaged when he/she delivered it.

I'd have to say this smells of scam. First off he'd have to sign for the package and USPS would not let him sign for it (or at a minimum it would of been well documented by them that it was damanged and/or opened). Now if all that did fail, he'd still have to go back to his local post office to fill out the damanged/missing mail/insurance claim.

My quick 2nd question for you - has yours been shipped and/or received?

I'd do exactly what Orangejello has suggested here. If he truly received an empty package, then he can discuss that with the postal service. If he's trying to pull a scam on you, then even the threat of a possible postal investigation should be enough to set him straight.

For the record, this sounds incredibly fishy.

This has scam all over it. If he signed for it, it wasn't opened and wasn't left in his mailbox. I'd definitely get the name out and warn everyone about this guy.

Did you receive the cards?

its a scam..like everyone said......if he signed for it...it was sealed....the usps WILL NOT give the insurance claim because what the other person is saying would have taken place AFTER they delivered it. you have no recourse to an insurance claim......tell him to file the insurance though......that is fraud!!!!

Ebay style scamming has entered our ranks. This truly makes me sick to my stomach. I do not understand the legalities of Insurance, but I hope there is someway the OP gets some money back.

The other party should receive a Scammer Under Investigation Avatar.

Insurance scam is a serious crime. When you involve the USPS it becomes a federal crime.

I sent a package or $4500 to a guy in OH 2 yrs ago. I even insured it, declared it and paid for Fed ex. The guy stated at first he never got the package. The sign confirmation from fed ex showed he signed for it. Then he did a chargeback from paypal. Paypal was informed about the fed ex reciept of delivery with scans from fed ex (cost me $55 to get the actual records instead of checking online).

Paypal took the money from me because the guy paid via CC and did a charge back via his CC company stating he never recieved what he bought. Fed ex on my behalf did an investigation because they werent going to pay out the full insurance value. I got the money back from fed ex as they pursued the person for fraud.

I emailed him later on and never got a response. Im sure they got the guy. Hopefully he was prosecuted to the fullest.

Without a doubt he is trying to scam you. You paid for the package to be signed for, and there is no way in hell that he or anyone else would sign for opened mail. And why was it in his mailbox? They just don't drop off a package that is sent express, requiring a signature, in the mailbox. Do what OJ is saying and file for an investigation to be opened. People like this need to be taught a lesson or they will continue to do it to others.

No way someone would sign for a package that was opened. Did you get his end of the trade?

Scam, scam scam. Had same thing done to me few years back on fleebay. What I did was trick the guy into admitting what he did. I told him I don't care if that's what he did and I just wanted my cards back and wasn't going to post office or was going to report him to eBay. He never responded but a week later my cards showed up in my mail box. After I checked them I reported him to eBay and pp. lol

Hi Everyone..Thank you for all your immediate responses. I just got home... I made sure I wasn't just alone in thinking I was being scammed before I name him.

waulk11 is the user ID.. I don't think he sent out my cards.

Here is the tracking number... go to canadapost.ca you could check it out yourselves that item was successfully shipped.

CX470945140CA

I paid a lot for shipping for him to receive it right away. It is a courtesy from me to have a smoother transaction.

So beware...I saw him trading with another person again. I trusted him because he showed me an ebay id with good feedback and 4 positive feedbacks here...

Beware of WAULK11...

Hopefully I get something from insurance

he posted a pic of the mailer in his photobucket. There is no way someone would accept a package like that and sign for it.

Even more so, there is now way a mailman would deliver a package like that to a door and ask for a signature. This is is definately pulling a stunt on you.

That's the same picture he sent to me... and I can't believe it. That is a bubble mail wrap too and hard to tear. And as if it was just opened to get what's inside. He still claims it is on his mailbox but that's why I paid $30 for receipt delivery.

Well I guess goodbye to my John Wall RC Auto and to my Eric Gordon parallel auto

The thing is, I was told last Thrusday he was suppose to send the cards out but it wasn't sent out... Well, this happened to me, and I hope it doesn't happen to any of you...Can anyone help me on what else or actions to take?

Call Canada post and tell them about this. Did you buy insurance? If so, ask them to pay you out the insurance. They will open a claim and contact him.

By the way, Im in Toronto too!!!

I would totally deal with ONLY trusted members. Especially when you are sending first or same time. Too many scammers everywhere these days.

This isnt 100% true. I had a package that was slit on the back. Yes i should have inspected it better granted. But i signed for it. Went to my car and then saw it was slit and was emptt. Took it to the PO and they documented the damage and filed a claim. I won and recieved a refund from the PO

But my package looked nothing like that. Thats insane to think they would deluver that

He obviously planned this. He would have shipped your cards as soon as he got the tracking # of your package if he intended to ship your cards to you. Contact post office and file a claim. Your items should be insured with express shipping. Tell him to ship bubble mailer back and see how far it gets before they say they cannot send it. There is no way postal service would put themselves in a situation to be scammed and send a open mailer. It just doesnt happen. Also you should put a picture of your cards with serial #s so that if they show up later you can try to get them back

DEFINITELY do not let this guy get away with this. He is going to get your cards scotch free and you're going to get your insurance so everyone is getting screwed.

Proceed with legal action. I'm telling you man, it's the only way he will stop doing this.

What scum. This stuff makes me sick.
