I think his cards will be up if he stays with the Rockets....Cause bascially no one can play with melo. Lin needs the ball to be effective....and he'll have a better chance of doing that with the Rockets.

SELL SELL SELL.

they are not going to go up again. His auto's sell for more than anyone in the league, save for like Kobe, Durant and Lebron. He is not and will never be on that level. Once he starts playing and settles into being a mediocre player he will drop

hold for sure. He's going to be the full time starter, so even if he plays mediocre to poorly (which most of the haters think he will), you will still have tons of die-hard collectors that will pay premium just on the fact that he's the starter.

Plus Houston will not have nearly the calliber of shooters NY had last year, so Lin will have free reign to be the scorer he wants to be (as we saw in glimpses of last year). I think he'll be a 20/7 guy.

Peoples views have nothing to do with being a hater, but starting 35 games does not justify giving him his current status nor the amount of money that Houston is giving him. His cards will most likely hold their current value (rookie) because he has a mass following with the Asian community. But to invest or expect his card values to increase it will never happen. Like stated above, hold until the start of the season and then sell, not during the low point (off season).

If Lin could help a lack of star players in Houston to win games like he did in NY, then his price will soar again. But on the other hand, if you think Lin will be a bust with Houston, then sell now or beginning of the season like the other suggested.

There's not too many rookie autos of him so unless he really starts sucking and averaging less than 10 pts a game, don't see why the value would drop.

Sounds like hating to me.

Firstly, he's worth more than the 35 mill he inked, because he's going to earn the Houston organization much more than that in profits from merchandise and ticket sales. Your argument = weak.

Secondly, it's 'hating' when you automatically state that there's 'no way' he can become a star and his card values will never increase again. I assume you feel you have a crystal ball that tells all future events. Nope...again, that's just haterism.

It's all good though, he's laughing all the way to the bank while the naysayers keep shaking their fists.

I don't blame people for selling now but I also would not count out another surge in prices.

Remember you're dealing with a new market when he switches teams (Yes, believe it or not not ALL his cards are being bought by Asians).

Will also be interesting to see how he's covered in Houston. That could play a part as well. The media treated him like a rock star in NY, which only helped him become more popular.

You haven't seen anything yet with Lin prices.... You thought Jordan prices were high there for a few? Well wait a few years and watch Lin prices SKYROCKET!!!!!!!!!!

Hint... when you start to notice any one person or group, having tons and tons of Lin's stocked up, that's when the prices will go through the roof!

So I would say hold them for now and stock up as much as possible. Because the people who have been mixed up with the whole Jordan crazy surely have something to do with Lin cards as well...

You can thank me later.

I would say sell only because he is leaving a major market. NY makes people bigger then life itself. Ask yourself this Mike Trout, Angels huge right. Mike Trout Yankees and man oh man he could run for president right now.. IMO the market they play in has a huge impact on the longevity of the value of a player. In Houston it will level out. At what dollar amount, who knows GL I don't think you could lose much anyway you look at it but, he my have hit his peek. Maybe not, but I can tell these so personal reason to hold his stuff. Then who cares its your PC.
Buy low sell high not the other way around. Card collecting is like the stock market if these a demand for it it price goes up. Really think how long will that high demand last in a smaller market.

But did Yao ever even come close to the demand for Lin. Lets step back and look if Yao was in NY,LA,CHI,BOS, what do you think his cards would have been worth. I hardly ever comment in the Hobby Talk this is a great thread to discuss. Great point of views. This is a opened ended discussion for sure.I will be reading this.

I don't think it's so much NY, LA.... I think it's just an Asian thing. It's a big market and when one of their "people" goes to the NBA, doesn't matter if they're scrubs, in a bad team... They say that people in Asia save 80% of their pay check! So they have some money to blow...

I think Houston is an Asian player magnet for $$$ reasons... Yao did great for that team and got a lot of love, and now they're getting Lin. Who's next, Ming Ming? hahahaha

See thats the point he revived a major market. Houston wont have the same buzz. Lets use one more reference. K. Durrant in LA or in OKC witch team makes his card more valuable. I agree in Houston he may have a much better career win a ring etc.. No argument there. But if were to do it in NY with lower stats he's Cards and auto would be 3 to 6 times the value they would ever be. Good example Shaq Auto, Duncan Auto who commands a higher premium. Am I in line with this comparison.

your right i do agree but what was the kids name im sure this is wrong in 04 maybe 05 the kid tha played for the suns im pretty sure it was the Suns Yabusa mabay. Well point is if he was in the spot light 24/7, in witch a major market gives you then he would have grown out of control. Also Please correct me on the kids name someone has to know.lol

I remember hype but nowhere close to this when Yi Jinlian was drafted.

You can't just be Asian you have to be relevant.

That's why Jeremy Lin autos were $5-$10 when he was on the bench before his breakout games.

Yeah I agree, this is always true when buying for your PC... up to a certain point of course. Thus the prices for Wang ZhiZhi's GU patch cards lol they're still selling high because there are still some collectors who want to add one.
