Let me ask you - if amare has a good year and then a team takes a chance on him knowing that they can amnesty him If he doesn't work out- would the Knicks then be over the cap still?

Yes, but the acquiring team still needs to PAY that contract, which again is not insured, so if they acquire him, he goes out with a knee injury the acquiring team still needs to pay for his ENTIRE contract.....get it? Regardless of amnestying him.

The Knicks got worse in what way? They have the same team plus better pgs and a better back up center. How is that worse?

Is Felton who is coming off a TERRIBLE year going to be better than Lin? Jason Kidd coming off a BAD year, is he gonna be better than Lin? Plus Shumpert out half of the year, you tell me why they are better?

So based on record alone diantoni is a better coach than Woodson? Diantoni had Nash an amare what the heck did Woodson have? He made the friezes hawks a pirrenial playoff team! And again why if diantoni is such a better coach did he get fired in favor of Woodson who made the same team he had better and why does diantoni not have a job?

Mike Woodson had Joe Johnson, Al Horford, Josh Smith, so please stop crying about that. SERIOUSLY are you playing dumb on why D'Antoni quit? Seriously? He quit because Melo wouldnt play defense and pouted when stuff ran through Lin, did we forget all this?

Also I didn't hear a 'I was mistaken' about you facting that bosh wasn't playing against the Knicks. Still think he wasnt although the box score indicates otherwise?

When you admit its not possible for the Knicks to get Paul, then I will apologize, until then my point still stands, the Knicks were like a preseason game for the Heat.

I'm not the only one who thinks the Knicks can contend. Why would camby and Kidd come to the Knicks $$$$$$$$$$$$ and a 3 year deal for camby, no one was offering him that if they didn't think they could contend. Obviously Knicks management thinks they can contend also. And I honestly could care less what other people think, this team WILL prove it on the floor and that's what I firmly believe.

Because the Knicks, the NBA's laughingstock over the last decade has proven time and time again they are a well run organization, LOL

so once again, the knicks getting cp3 is POSSIBLE although ridiculously unlikely?

is that a false statement or simply a ridiculous pipe dream? and for the record i still don't care if the knicks get cp3 i just think that its funny you're saying its impossible when its just improbable.

felton did not want to be in portland. felton loves playing for the knicks in the garden and i have no reason to believe he won't come in motivated and excited to be back on the knicks. i think and many other people not just myself think that felton will be a better option than lin next year. he definitely plays more defense by a long stretch. shumpert being out will hurt, but he will be back and the knicks will be well in it when he gets back.

so woody had 3 mediocre players in houston. thats even close to being the team that diantoni had in phx? steve nash in his prime and a young and beast amare stoudemire? its not even close. this is something we will never agree on. i believe that diantoni's coaching style is horrible. i believe that he has only one way of coaching and can not take the players he is given and get the best out of them - as was proven in NY. he needs a certain kind of player. you saw it for yourself when the knicks played the celtics last year and he did his patented 'refuse to foul up by 3 and barely any time left' strategy and let pierce get up a 3. he single handedly lost that game for the knicks. coaches shouldn't lose games for your team. and btw if that doesnt happen the knicks win 3 of 4 games against the celtics last year...and either way they split and ended up with almost the same record.

anyways we shouldn't continue to turn this thread into a knicks bashing / defending thread, we can do that on another thread with the appropriate subject.

as for mayo, ive always felt he was extremely over rated ever since he got drafted way too high. he won't help much in dallas.

So, back to the thread.....

Mayo is a decent signing for the Mavs. He brings some shooting that will be missed by losing Terry.

While Mayo could still *potentially* turn into a Vince Carter type player, that's a long-shot and with what Carter did for the game, the comparison is a bit far-fetched.

Nique and Carter are better comparisons for EACH OTHER (although Nique was more rugged and a true SF where Carter is more finesse and more of a perimeter player despite his dunks), rather than VC and Mayo.

Mayo's game is lazy like VC and comes very natually and easily. They both shoot way too many 3pointers and do not give max effort defensively. I see the comparisons there, but Mayo's ceiling isn't scoring in the high 20's per game. I can see him in the 18-21 ppg range though on a team that only requires him to score. Dallas is one of those teams. Dallas needed a pure scorer and that is what Mayo is.
