Great card... his full signature cards are scarcer than his 'Big O' autographs.

When I first saw that card design, I thought it was unbelievable. I've gone off it a bit in recent months, but, seeing this card, it reminds me why I liked it in the first place.

I think Oscar Robertson is really underrated historically. At one point he became overrated (due to averaging a triple-double for a season), then it became popular to dismiss it as a statistical anomoly of a fast-paced era. As a result, he's now underrated by modern fans, who fail to see how astonishingly well rounded he was. He had no weakness, played within himself, and dominated the other guards of his era.

He also suffers somewhat from having not been the easiest guy to play with. His attitude seems to come up often as a point of discussion when reading about him.

That's true. Another factor affecting his legacy is the lack of highlight reel plays. There is plenty of footage of him on the web, but he doesn't stand out for his athleticism, size or showmanship. Instead, he was just an absolutely rock solid player, consistently excellent night-in night-out, and would rack up a 'quiet' triple-double without anyone noticing.

It is often overlooked by modern fans that, during his playing days, many observers regarded him as the best player in the league... ahead of Bill Russell, Jerry West and, yes, Wilt Chamberlain.
