Gold Standard 11/12 XRC Rookie Redemptions

Hi, firstly enjoy the conversations that go on in this forum.

I just wanted to get people's views of the redemption cards out there. I am not a serious collector but do watch the market so see what is happening and where the trends are out of interest.

I know there has been a couple of threads on this before and I know the views around re: panini products but let's take the Gold Standard 11/12 XRC rookies for example. There cards, which are autos, have been selling for between $15 - $25 a card (some exception for the XRCA card) - so let's say on average $20.

What determines the value of these cards? Alternatively, that's like saying would you rather a your 11/12 Gold Standard box to come with 10 XRC cards or the 10 random cards that currently come inside the box? I think that this has arisen because of the short NBA season so these types of rookie draft redemptions wouldn't occur again in the future...

What are people's thoughts?
