Not to many people can afford a red pmg Jordan so this in the 1500-2500 range will stay steady .

Exspecially with cases being expensive and hard to come by

I think the problem with comparing pmg's from then and pmg's now is that we now have the advantage of hindsight.

Back then, even if you ripped 10 cases and only got 1 pmg green...pmg's back then were not regarded as a super 'zomg hall of fame collectible card!' There are probably literally hundreds if not more pmg's that were tossed into 'commons' boxes or into the trash or donated to goodwill. Hell, there have been people on here who have found pmg's and other serial numbered 90's cards in bargain bin 5000 count boxes before.

Collectors simply did not care for these cards or held them in high esteem back in the late 90's, and the industry is much different now where everything serial numbered is basically tossed into a soft sleeve and into a collection.

So it does add to their rarity and eternal desirability factor.

It's like comparing a 60's dodge challenger to the 'remake' challenger of today. You can't even compare them. About the only similarity they share is the name and somewhat of the looks.

Very good example and explanation.

I dont know if the Higher end guys were thrown in the trash maybe commons .
I remember opening finest in grant hill rookies year and all the cards were very well taken care of . Jordan and stars. I would say the same with these greens and reds of mj back then . I remember people not wanting to touch the card or take sticker off . Maybe you have to go back to the 80s for cards tossed around but I have somewhere in my fathers house a couple of boxes of topps baseball cards that are in sleeves and binders > Am I the only one that did that

Yeah, I remember when Credentials, Rubies, and PMGs were still sought after and taken care of by dealers in the 90s

Oh, for the 'star' players yes...obviously most were kept and preserved.

But you have to remember, pmg's back then were made for every card in the set...so a LOT of them of the lesser known players were just tossed into commons boxes. Back then, those cards were worth MAYBE a dollar or two.

Factor in that the 'new pmg' craze of this generation has made collectors chase even the no-namers, and that's another reason why prices across the board for the first pmg's have gone up. Heck, there was a guy on here that picked up an original 97-98 dikembe mutombo green pmg for something like $100 on ebay. And the guy only priced it that because he estimated it from the red price in beckett. If not, he probably would have sold the card for 2 bucks.

Again, it's all hindsight.

Thanks. Also added the 1/10 Worthy.

I also cleaned up the tracker - separating the ones sold.

Eh, for fun, I'll take a stab at it...

For the #8/10 Thompson, since there are two others on eBay, I will say it will stop at $315.

The #8/10 Robinson is a different beast - only one out there (for now), and there are some die hard Admiral fans. So my guess is $825.

The #6/10 Russell will surpass them both, though - I'll say $1,419.

The two biggest PMG Greens (aside from Russell #6) to surface have been added:

-LeBron #8/10 (on eBay)
-Jordan #7/10 (pulled and posted by BO member paul06901)

Three more PMG Greens have sold on eBay today (all three by best offers).

Results posted in the original post on this thread.
