lol, nah, all legit. All-Star Jersey. I would maybe worry about the fact the lower end products used "fake used" patches and jerseys lol, but not Exquisite. Way too high end of a product that people spent a huge ammount of money on for them to had put their company and livelihoods on the line for. I mean think about it. As I've told others, as far as that article goes, consider the source.

right, but if they'd be willing to use fake materials in a cheap product, i guarantee they would do the same in an expensive one. Regardless it's a big deal if they get caught. If you get caught stealing a $15,000 car they don't go easier on you than if you were stealing a $60,000 car.

they why it was sold the game used before signed by MJ???

I hear what you're saying, and you're right the penalty would be the same. I just strongly believe that's not the case with this product. It's like this, an investigation done back in 2000 was about this same exact thing. Obviously it didn't hold that much weight, as 4 years later Exquisite, Ultimate Collection and a few other high end products came out carrying a big purchase price tag were bought up and the value of those products have soared ever since, especially in the last 2-3 years. I just always consider the source and the credibility of the source, and his isn't so good obvious of the predicament he's in ;)

Please re-ask that question? :) I didn't understand what you were trying to ask.

smoothfidelity 09-17-2012 05:23 PM

Chris - You are pretty safe with this one if you decide to buy. UD used this same all star jersey in various limited products, and this card is from a time when they actually stated the memorabilia was worn by MJ in an NBA game.

These cards are really nice in hand. The gold foil really pops.

Good post(other than referring to me as Chris ;)) As far as I know, they were in Trilogy, Exquisite, and Michael Jordan Legacy.

Although the one I'm looking at now still has the "certified to us..." wording, it still mentions the All-Star Game.

UD used them in 2006-07 Reflections as well, but this is the year they started changing their authentication. It's up to you to decide.

There are various parallels of this card.

The ones /50 are just patch cards and aren't really auto'ed. It's a facsimile. They used the all star patch.

The ones /25 are auto'ed. They used an all star JERSEY...not patch.

There is also a version /10 that is a patch auto, but they did NOT use the all star patch.

This is a prime example of why I tend to stay away from GU cards. The Basketball Hall of Fame, Upper Deck, and a handful of various auction houses and game-worn collectors have claimed to have the game-worn MJ '96 All-Star jersey over the years.

Earlier this year, when Mitchell & Ness reproduced Jordan's '96 All-Star jersey for retail, it was found out that the jersey the Basketball Hall of Fame had in their possession and believed to be game-used, was in fact not.

Mitchell & Ness based their reproduction on the jersey supplied by the Hall of Fame. It didn't take long for jersey collectors to notice that Mitchell & Ness had put the "2" on the back of the jersey upside down--which prompted their explanation & photos of the GU jersey in the HOF. Mitchell & Ness | The Mystery of the 1996 NBA All Star Jersey

Watch the highlights of the game, or the entire game. Michael never wears a jersey with an upside down "2" on the back.
