If you spend $800+/box on this stuff, you're high.

I wonder if the average collector will ever be able to afford an Upper Deck product again.

Well, I caved in and pre-ordered some of this. I didn't want to, and I'm not even happy with the product ... but it's an addiction I tell you!!!

^^^^^what he said, good point.

I believe Exquisite is known for its amazing patches. Why can't UD use college uni's? Are they too expensive for UD to buy?

Are there any shops on here that order direct from UD? Are they asking that much or are the dealers/distributors skipping the lube step. I'm curious how much UD asked for Exquisite Football.

How many uniforms does a college team use in a year? Schools that don't use player names, do they reuse uniforms year after year?

The uniforms in exquisite football are event used replicas, and i think a large amount of people think they are game worn.

Would anyone buy a Jordan carolina event-worn jersey/auto card?

This prospect scares me a bit.

They should have at least tried to put in some game worn college uniform of the rookies like they did for football

Absolutely, why not? I'd love one. Those old UNC unis are wayyyyyyyyyyy more scarce than his thousands of NBA ones.

what i posted in another thread.Retro is a different case, the market clearly exists for retro at double its msrp.

I don't blame them, they are a business, but at some point it begins alienating your customer base. I got absolutely killed breaking the cup this year even though I did no worse then I have in the past. The reason being pricing started off at an unsustainable price( several online retailers have brought their prices down, still not close to far enough). The market clearly does not support a 500+ price.

I never have and never will blame card companies for poor return from a break. You know what you are getting into when you decide to open a product. But I will blame people who force a false market price on us through their essential oligopoly on supply.

Now ultimately it's still my fault that I bought the cup at the price that I did and I have no one to blame but myself for that decision. But you better believe that I won't be making the same mistake again with exquisite basketball. That get's back to alienating the customer, as this type of price gouging continues, more and more collectors will slowly drift away from the hobby. Sure short term retailers will make an absolute killing, but they threaten their long term sustainability with short sighted decisions.

So, prices in 2007-08 Exquisite were $500 per box when I bought my cases, maybe 490 per box if you bought the cases....now 4 years later they are ....$533 a box with a guaranteed MJ auto per case. Multiple people itt have posted they are getting them for 520-550 per box.

I think you are confused about what's going on with the upcoming Exq release.

Not at all, you're confused on who I am upset at. I realize there are plenty of people getting legitimate pricing from LCS's, my anger is directed towards authorized online dealers, such as the one in the OP which is charging 800- 900 a box, or dealers that were charging 500+ for a tin of exquisite while people buying them from LCS's at 350-375 a tin.

DA had cup at 550 a tin! to start off, that's a damn joke.
