Thoughts on a nice HOF auto set?

I'm looking for a nice HOF auto set to put together. I've got the 2009 Panini Famed Sigs in the works, but I thought something a little more high-end would be fun to work on. I also have a fair chunk of the 2010 NT HOF auto set done, but that's only a 26-card set.

I'd also consider a nice set that features a mix of HOFers and other retired stars, similar to what Upper Deck did with their 1997 football Legends auto set.

Any thoughts/direction are appreciated.

Any of the Chronology sets from 07/08.

Does it have to be a new set?

If not, the best I can think of is, 2001 Greats of the Game All-American Autographs!

I would say Silhouettes, but you're asking for a set... not sure of a newer set that features mostly HOF players.

I have no concerns about the age of the set, but I'm curious what you like about this one.

I'm doing the 1997 football Legends auto set, so I don't mind chasing some older stuff.

Oh cool... I LOVE the old Greats of the Game autographs, even the regular auto set. But these All-Americans are one of my favorite sets of all time. Main reason is the design, just beautiful imo. Not to mention it features George Mikan's rarest autograph, which is numbered to just 46 copies. Followed by /50 of Paul Arizin(deseased) and Bob Cousy, and other great players. Topped off by Vince Carter being numbered the highest in the set at /98. I love how the set has the players numbered to their rookie year, so you're actually learning a little. Not sure if I like these cards better, or the Silhouettes, but they're pretty close.

Here is my George Mikan...

This is one of those sets I never got tired of.

You can go for the 1999 Inkredible or Epic set but both of those sets have some scrubs in them. I would recommend 2000 Legendary Signatures as the whole checklist are Legends. More than half the players are NBA's Top Fifty and most of the whole set are HOF'rs and if they are not they were still great players. And sometimes for the fun of it you want chase cards which are cards that are hard to get and SP'd. This set has it with the Bird, Magic, Russell & DRJ. Very fun set to collect. Another that comes to mind is the 07-08 Chronology Legends - amazing looking set!! Keep us updated on what you chose.. Oh, and the one Gio mentioned above, love that set as well but is out of my league;)
