Please just tell me nobody is going to think that the heat will post a better record than the bulls with 72.

OK, I'll tell you....NO WAY IN HELL do they get close to 72!

Personally I believe the Heat win between 60 - 65.

maybe...

Truth be told the Heat has NEVER been a great regular season team.

Up until now, their best (statistical) regular season has been 1997!

That's amazing, seeing as they have been to 4 ECF and 3 NBA Finals since 2005!

But I also believe that this is the BEST Heat team (on paper anyways) ever assembled.

I think they will FINALLY beat the 61-21 record of the 1997 Heat team!

So, I guess I'm rooting for 62 wins and the #1 OVERALL seed!

that 72-10 season was so amazing. It's crazy to think about. so many things have to go right and as good as the heat will be, i think injuries will prevent that opportunity. maybe not major ones, but i'm sure players will sit with nagging injuries here and there.

TBH, even if the Heat did have a chance to break that record, I really wouldn't want them to do it.

If they did, they would only acquire intense pressure and scrutiny once the playoffs began.

It's best just to win 60+ games and get the #1 seed.

That record will probably never be beaten anyways, IMO, there's a lot more parity in the NBA now then there was in the 90s.

boston 51 team is older again, not much for improvements
charlotte 19.5 young team, more vets
chicago 50 no d rose for a while
cavs 31 got good guards and improved bench
mavs 44.5 still got dirk and a lot of size and speed
clippers 50.5 cp3 hurt for a while hurts
lakers 59.5 I see too much talent hurting them chemistry wise
heat 61 Good team made improvements but 61 is a lot
knicks 46.5 healthy roster helps chances
okc 60.5 good team but west is stacked[/QUOTE]

Above for ya

i don't know if i agree with that. I just think the Bulls were such a great TEAM. Everyone knew their roles and accepted them. Today's game is a bit different and it's rare to kind a player that completely buys into a system that is a star.

I mean, look at Rodman, he played like 33 minutes a game and probably took 5 shots a game, most of which were probably tips from offensive rebounds.

Is there a guy that exists today that would do that? Completely devote himself to one aspect of the game like that?

Look at Ron Harper, he was a really good offensive player, and took about 17 shots a game with the Clippers, and as soon as he joined the Bulls, he took a back seat and only took about 7 shots.

Those guys did what they needed to do. I'm not saying guys don't do that today, or that it always works, but they were only interested in winning, not putting up pretty stats

I'd bet the farm on the bockers winning 50 this year. no dantoni, better roster, better depth. barring 2 or 3 injuries (excluding melo, need him) they'll most definitely be a 50 win team. people talk about their age but every player with significant mileage is a backup. the whole starting line up is fine age wise. they've been talking a lot about not having to do any teaching this year, everyone is a vet and knows their roll and how to play in the nba. this is the year they have to back it all up. 50+ wins and the division. 3 seed at least.

Some fun facts about the 72-10 Bulls...

Only one of their 10 losses came by more than 10 points

In the nine losses by 10 or less points, they lost by an average of just 5.0 points

Their last three losses of the regular season were all by one point

They had started out 37-0 at home before losing two of their last four games

One of their losses came at the hands of a 21-61 Raptors' team

Indiana beat then twice that year

They won 14 of their first 15 playoff games (losing to the Knicks by three in the lone defeat during that streak)

People need to stop quoting age for the Celtics, they have 2 older players, 3 if you wanna count Jason Collins, but frankly who does? The Knicks are the oldest team in NBA history....history! So if people use age on the Celtics, they need to check out the Knicks and others too.

Win totals dont mean much to me, as long as a team finishes in the top 4 of the conference, and they get home court that is what is going to matter. I can see the Celtics finishing with 58 wins all the way down to 48 if they wanna rest guys through the winter. I can see the Knicks with 50ish wins and all the way down to a disaster at 38 depending on health too.

I think the Bulls struggle to hit 50, I really doubt they capture that magic that they did last year when Rose went down for a full season.

And yes Charlotte should be in the teens again, other than that who knows on the rest.

Bucks are at 36.5 wins. I will take the over on that. I got them at 43-45 wins.

And I will go out on a limb somewhat here, but the Bucks will lead the league in blocked shots
