Why no Lillard Panini Autos???

Damian Lillard is a beast right now... off to an amazing start, and it's shocking that he has no Panini autos. Does anyone know why? I recall seeing someone post something about him saying on Twitter that he wouldn't be signing for them anytime soon. Just not sure why? It would be awesome to get some real NBA autos from this guy, instead of just the Leaf stuff he has available right now.

Isn't he an exclusive for Leaf for "Draft" autos or something like that only?

On the sell sheet, it had him, Beal and others. Beal is signing for Panini, so why couldn't Lillard? I think the Leaf deal has nothing to do with NBA.

I thought he was just an exclusive for non-nba licensed cards. They also listed Beal and Ross as exclusives but they have Panini autos as well.

Exclusives are not fun. We all know that. From UD owning MJ for 20 years, to Panini's exclusive to the NBA. I'm all for Lillard and Barkley if they just want to deal with Leaf. Leaf at least makes the best looking cards for what they have to work with.

Correct, Leaf is basically only keeping UD from making non-NBA autos of these players

Yea but imagine when it's time to make national treasures rap and lillard will only get a base non auto, I think that'll suck for collectors. Leaf really made a good gamble and I bet they didn't even think lillard would be selling as well or even better than Anthony Davis. But it will suck that lillard would have any patches or jersey since those are nba and I'm pretty leaf can't use those

Sadly, Leaf wrapped him up as an exclusive, so we're just gonna have to tolerate their weird college uniform stuff

His Leaf contract is only exclusive for non NBA autos. Just like Bradley Beal and Terrence Ross, who both have the exact same "exclusive" contract with Leaf... and they both sign with Panini!

Maybe he wasn't at the rookie transition/photo shoot Panini did and he couldn't sign the cards/stickers there?

He'll probably be in later products like NT

He's a "partial" exclusive I guess which makes the exclusive less meaningful.

lol, i bought leaf best of basketball last year... i wanna say i paid high 700s and i got a pierce/rondo gold standard dual auto #1/20 bgs 8.5, a derrick rose topps chrome rookie psa 10 and a kobe something or other bgs 8.5 auto... basically got half my money back, lol.

So Leaf pays him money for an "exclusive" that's not really an exclusive. Doesn't Lillard then have the opportunity to get paid by both Panini and Leaf? It seems to make more sense to get two paychecks than just one.

Yeah, but at the same time, Panini seems to have put all of their eggs in one basketball with Davis. Had they done market research and looked at Lillard as a future player with career potential, maybe they would have offered more money and an exclusive contract. But no, Panini felt that Davis was an easy lock for ROY, but so far, Lillard has my vote.
