Why did Panini put 0 HIGH $$$ cards in Threads / Prestige?

Since I'm bored waiting for Obama to speak, I figured I'd start a thread

I think it's perplexing that the highest Valued Cards coming out of Prestige & Threads are only worth like $150 - $200 (Irving/Davis/Durant/Kobe single Autos) ...

Why is there no $500 / $1000 chase cards? I think that could really enhance both products which don't over much "unexpected value" ...

What about a /5 Parallel set for Rookie Autos or a Insert Set of Dual/Triple Autos #ed /5 or /10 ... Dirk/Kobe Dual Auto? Irving/Davis/Durant Triple Auto? Irving Red Wood RC Auto /5 etc. ....

Thoughts?

Doubt it.. PRIZM looks like it's going to be like Chrome. Lots of parallels and subsets, and single player autographs.

I agree with the OP. Panini needs to get more creative with player pairings. They could do so much with the new rookies and veteran stars, like they are doing with their football releases.. Just boggles my mind sometimes how boring and uniform all of their basketball products can be.. Switch it up a little! Get creative!

Because they have a new contract with the NBA and they dont have to do anything to appease the collectors anymore.

Maybe but for a $100 Box, you would think you would have a "chance" to get a $500 Card ...

That's why those boxes should not be $100 MSRP. They are $50~$60 at the fair value.

its awful. How hard would it have been to make the wood background black or something and make it a 1/1. adds thousands of dollars of value. Also with presige they could of done varaitions or something

Nobody holds this company accountable. For 4 years now people continue to open their products at high profit levels with the MAPP program. Now you pay more and get far less. The cards continue to look the same and carry no value. People are still surprised Panini isnt bringing value and creativity?

Totally agree. Bought one box of Threads, Got 115 base (i.e... Worthless) cards. 3 autos as promised that only come in base, non-numbered variety, a $2 jersey card and ONE!!!! numbered parallel. How hard is it to add a bunch of numbered parallels and a few serial #'d autos. Really no extra costs that add some value to the break

What did they ever do to appease collectors to begin with? Each product the same MSRP $100 and 4 crappy hits. Its the same all the time. Couple $2 autographs and two single color jersey cards. Enjoy your $10-15 in value and pray you dont get a redemption.

People will buy it anyway. Thats why they dont bother. Why would they? They sell out of every product regardless so why do any extra work. They have no financial incentive to make better products because like I said above, it will sell out anyway.

Is that even possible in a Panini product? Thier rate of redemptions is beyond ridiculous. I watched someone break a case of Crown Royale football and they got 12 redemptions in one case.

Because everyone knows that these products are the low end of the product line. Easy to produce and get out quick then spend more time on the "newish" products and higher end stuff

Threads and prestige have barely changed over the years so if you break it looking for a HUGE hit then its all your fault for not knowing the product your opening

I'd be very interested to know exactly how they come to acquire their jerseys that they use for their cards, and at what prices they are getting them.

The extreme low number of Logoman cards being put into products tells me that they are too cheap to pay good money for game used jerseys.

I don't see why there couldn't be logoman cards issued in the Timeless Treasures release after the past 2 years had them. To me, it says that they are cutting corners and trying to save money.

HAHAHAHAHA. I like some NT I'm not gonna lie. But that's like the only wax i bust. I agree that these little products are a joke. ESPECIALLY the stupid case hit cards. Favorite thing i've seen is how Rondo, Rose, Westy, Paul and prob more PG's have horizontal prestige base cards and they're all like dribbling up, they look pretty cool.

I see the free Kobe Anthology as a bonus. More like a gift yo collectors.
That's always a chance to pull the limited mouth watering Kobe auto patches.
That's just the bonus.
For the price its not even a gamble to get decent cards.
If you want to gamble get UD for an amateur uni.

Just like this years Exquiste...A case of that garbage costs what?...And the most you can get from that case is a Jordan auto which are now going for $300-$400 Bucks...Now thats a ripoff!...agree?

Isn't it always like that since Panini started making these 2 products? I think the biggest card in Threads from 2 years ago was the Kobe team diecut jersey auto? That didnt touch $500. Only the Lin came huge later.

The MAAP pricing is about 20% - 25% more than what it should be.

Saw a box with Lebrong bling bling auto, Hill Shawdow box, and Penny patch auto. After selling those 3 cards, you are still going to lose $300-$400 on that box. LOL!

Exquisite's retail price is way lower than the ridiculous prices online. It still is way better value than any panini product.
