Prizm- will it be that good?

Of course everyone talks about NT and usually Exquisite but this year there is a lot of buzz about Prizm which incidentaly reminds me of Topps Finest. Lots of parallels and such. But is it really gonna be that good? Two autos per box and 2 prizms whatever that means? If it were 4 autos per box or 2/2 3/1 w/ GU I'd say great bc of the parallels but while I'm excited, I'm also kind of scared to buy a case or box at $100. Thoughts?

it looks like they are trying to copy topps chrome so if they do it right it may be ok and as far as jerseys go they are worthless these days anyways so parallels is a nice switch up

Are those RCs auto? It looks like you get 2 auto, 2 base card refractor (regular or gold) and 2 no-one-care inserts. It looks expensive to me especially there is no GU and no patch.

And funny how the review sees this product as mid-range product. Besides Hoops, what else is low end?

Considering there are no cards that go for over 200 bucks in Prestige and Threads, I would consider those low end. Even some SP autos in Hoops go for more than 250 bucks at times. I am not sure what's really going to be chase worthy in this product. It looks cool, but what are we getting that's not in these other products that have come out this year?

yea it scares me that there are only 2 main hits here, parallels are parallels, they might sell for the same as jerseys if the product does well maybe a little better but no patches? and u won't make ur money back with a raymond felton parallel

Guys, it's a hobby, not an investment. You are gonna lose money with 95% of all cases/boxes/packs breaks. Especially with Panini Basketball. If you don't like losing money, don't collect or do your researches and buy only cheap scrub autos and hope for the best.

The $100 is really my issue as well. I love the look, won't miss worthless GU cards, and really think some of these parallels could hold good value. However, why the hell is this so much?? No reason for $100 price tag with the product content.

Looks like prospecting flippers arent happy with this product. But sure seems collectors are excited.

I love the rant on how "there are no GU" and "Not enough autos" or "Not enough big name autos" to make money back out of a box.

Is the point of opening the box the the thrill or the chance to make bank? Once you choose, its pretty easy to figure out what is right for you and what isn't.

How much do you think a box of finest cost back in the 90s when there was no autos and game used? More than $120. Yet all you got from a box was rookies and possibly 2-3 refractors per box. Imagine that!!

Price point with inflation seems right at $100. $100 for 18 packs vs $600 for 1x5 card pack. What are we complaining about here?

I love how the same people who told panini to take notes from topps and UD products are now slamming them for "stealing their ideas". I mean UD COMPLETELY ripped all the fleer inserts, made a high priced product out of them, and people ended up jumping for joy for that.

The $100 price point is iffy for me though. But I'll still try a box or two since I like set collecting, and expecting every pack to have a NT RAP and complain about all base packs is unrealistic.

HOw many of you collected back in the 90s? How many boxes came with autos/jerseys? How many came for less than $80?

Collectors Choice was a $70/box. No jerseys, no autos, no patches. a choice /100 /25 and thats about it.

Skybox products? On average maybe 1 auto per box? A few inserts but no GU. Price? $70 to 90 / box. 96-97-98-99 Autographics? Do you know how big that checklist was? Lots of scrub players and only 1 auto per box if you were lucky.

What am i missing here?

I'm picky when it comes to busting unless the price is right. These just make me think Topps Chrome knock-offs or a generic version of it. Boring to me

When Topps Finest basketball made its debut, I remember those prices and the hype. Will definitely bust 1 or 2 boxes of Prizm, can't pass up the chance to pull that sweet auto of Kobe.
