Default Derrick Williams is the worst no.2 overall since Darko in '03

Words can't describe just how terrible of a basketball player Derrick Williams is. He literally has no redeeming qualities. Thabeet is better than him just by the fact that he's 7'2.

Yes because Derrick Williams has been in the league so long.

Its a bit early to say that, Thabeet is easily the worst since Darko/Bowie.

I agree it's too early to judge yet, but the top 10 of that 2010-11 draft class has not done much of anything, with the exception of Kyrie. He'll be an all-star, but the rest of them...who knows. Kemba is ok. I'd judge them in another 2 years.

Thabeet can barely get up and down the floor.

Derrick Williams will never be the superstar alot of people thought he would, but to compare him to Thabeet is just plain stupid.

Superstar? He will be lucky to even see the floor when KLove gets back.

I have zero hope that he can even be a starter in this league. He has to be the worst finisher around the rim in the entire NBA.

Dante Cunningham (now on his 3rd team in 4 years) who the Wolves got for Wayne Ellington is twice the player Derrick Williams is.

Didn't Derrick Williams say he can guard Lebron James?

Well

a couple of things

Derrick Williams Stats - Minnesota Timberwolves - ESPN

first

its difficult to be hard on Derrick Williams, as its only been 7 games into the season

he only plays a tad over 20 min a game, his shooting is down but hes 3 pt % is up. Im not gonna do the math, but looking at his stats so far, it probably averages out to about 14 pts and 8 reb a game

for a 21 yr old, thats not horrible

hes playing the 4, but hes really a 3, and hes playing the 4 because of the loss of Kevin Love. Putting the Wolves in a tough spot

again, hes 21. in todays NBA, you just dont see guys that young take off at that age anymore.

I don't know.

He's got all the athletic ability in the world, but he's still unpolished.

I think he can be a good player, but just needs time to develop his game and gain confidence.

Seriously, kid has the body and hops of a young Iguadala. I wouldn't count him out just yet.

Thabeet is far worse, at least derrick williams didn't go to d-league in his rookie year.

I think you guys are also forgetting that he wasn't some highly rated kid coming out of high school, he wasn't in the top 100 of any of the rankings.

He had a decent freshman year and then just blew up his sophomore year.

He has all the talent in the world, he has the right mindset and the work ethic, he just needs time to adjust and fine tune his game.

I watched every single minute of his college career, kid has a lot of raw talent, he'll be fine.

I kinda see him being similar to Jermaine Oneil in the end, had a rough start to his career because he just wasn't ready, but once he figures it out, he'll be a very good starting player and occasional all star throughout his career.

he got a late start playing in high school only went out for the team his like junior year or something and then 2 years of college and 1 year of pros

yea he didn't look good finishing around the rim last night but dont forget K. Love got a ton of shots thrown back in his face when he first came into the league too

guys used to get 4 yrs in college to get polished, that's one of the reasons Pierce and Duncan have been so good for so long, nowadays everyone wants immediate success and gratification and that's just not part of the game

Not saying I think he'll be a "superstar" or anything, but the guy is only 21 and hasn't played a full 82 game season. I think everyone should wait a couple more years before calling him a "bust" or worst #2 pick since Darko

Obviously not good for a #2 pick, but Thabeet has played pretty well for the Thunder this year. He's a legitimate backup center on a good NBA team. He might, eventually, even be good enough to start on a contending team given the lack of quality centers in the league.

Seriously, you are calling Williams worst than Thabeet after 1 strike-shortened season and 8 games?

I like Monroe, he's a beast. Saw him at the Rookie Game in Orlando on all-star weekend and he was impressive. The typo there was "10-11" should have been "11-12 Draft class".

That's the thing. I'm a HUGE Wolves fan and hope he makes me look like an idiot. I want to be wrong about him. People that don't watch this guy on a nightly basis don't understand just how terrible he has actually been.
