Uncut-Sheet Music: Panini America Peeks Autograph Form from Prizm Basketball
November 15, 2012 at 11:29 AM A few weeks ago we had the distinct pleasure of spending quality weekend time with a few uncut sheets of the upcoming 2012-13 Prizm Basketball, the technologically gifted new product launching later this month. That day, we were graced by two different 100-up forms: One previewing the etched-holographic greatness of the retail-exclusive Green Prizm parallels, the other showcasing the set’s base cards. Today, we get the chance to make more blissful sheet music by exploring one of Prizm’s 100-up autograph forms. While they’re not quite the finished product, the fronts and backs of these sheets provide a unique look at a product before it gets backed, sliced, diced and delivered. This particular form features the Prizm autograph parallels; there’s also a base version of the autographs, too. As something of a huge bonus, we’ve also provided your first look at the hard-signed cards of Lakers superstar and Panini America exclusive Kobe Bryant. It’s another tantalizing preview of a product that seems to be ascending on the hype meter by the day. Today’s gallery is likely to accelerate that process. Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional previews of 2012-13 Prizm Basketball in the coming days. Stunning designs. I'm excited to see if these live up to expectations.

Agreed, those cards have frames for the stickers. Also, if these cards are still in sheets, there is no way they can get them signed by Dec 5th. These will all be stickers except for Kobe and maybe a few choice others.
Panini should have produced the cards a year ago, during the lockout, and sent them out to get hard signed over the last year. This begs the question I've been asking for a year now. What the heck was Panini working on during the lockout? Nothing, apparently. Still a nice product, but they could have done better with hard signed. |

Stickers or not, this is a step towards the right direction.
Great design, good subset concepts, rare parallels, metallic Chrome-look, etc. At least Panini gave the sticker some clearly designated space on the card unlike most of their other products.

Well based on the responses apparently Panini figured out collectors like shiny things. Looks like Finest, but that's not a bad thing. But these will be bad with stickers, chrome/shiny stuff is made for on-card autos.

stickers or not, still the best we've seen in the bball arena from Panini besides NT. I will be busting multiple boxes of this. You can't really expect all on card autos. At least, Durant, Kobe, and Griffin should be on card. Plus, you have the chase element of the Golds /10. The base rookie prizms should sell well too. Even Topps Chrome FB has stickers. To expect all on card autos for $100 is asking a lot IMO. I would love the see the checklist though.

super nice but based on the below quote it seems it is DEFINITELY sticker for pretty much everyone not a Panini exclusive.
"...we’ve also provided your first look at the hard-signed cards of Lakers superstar and Panini America exclusive Kobe Bryant." no reason to point-out the fact the Kobe is hand signed if they all are

Not sure if it's good or bad... On one hand, the card design is cool. On the other hand, it means more likely that there will be either many sticker autographs, or lots of redemption (hopefully hard-signed).

I just read all the comments on their blog, and there's a post from Tracy from yesterday saying something about a die-cut red parallel:
"I can assure you that this product IS NOT inundated with tons of parallels, just Prizm, Gold Prizm and Red Die-Cut Prizm versions in the hobby." I was disappointed when they said the green parallels are retail only, but adding some red die-cut parallels sounds fantastic. The red color should pop like crazy. I didn't find any info about the #'ing on the red die-cuts. |

Argh, darnit, now Tracy just posted:
"Slight correction here. The Red Prizm die-cuts will be in football this year. But stay tuned." Hopefully stay tuned means they are adding another parallel to hobby Prizm NBA. I think they really need more than just the Prizm and Gold /10 parallel. |
