Post your Charles Barkley cards
 

I haven't seen many nice Barkley cards in all my years of searching, so I'm hoping some of you have some hidden gems in your collections. I'm curious what else is out there.

Here's a Barkley auto I picked up for a really good price last week. The auto is nice and bold, the card is pretty cool (I really like 1991-92 Hoops cards for some reason), he looks typically mean and moody in the photo, and he was the Dream Team's best player so it seems fitting.

Yes, their best player during the Games.

He led the team in PPG, RPG and SPG.

Its no secret that Charles was one of the most important aspects of that team...

I still have his first pair of GU Nike shoes as a Phoenix Sun (autographed), but this is the last of 6 signed cards :(

Edit to add - OP, I don't want to raise an alarm, but I have yet to see a Barkley where he starts the 'C' with a swirl like that.

You don't want to raise an alarm but what else are you trying to achieve? :confused:

I've verified the PSA/DNA number with their website and it confirms it is in their registry.

Meanwhile, who's to say they weren't sat next to Barkley when he signed it?

Obviously there's a chance that they made a mistake and it's not real, but you could say that about any PSA/DNA certified autograph. Many of them look a little bit amiss.

OP your auto does look pretty fishy, I'd get a second opinion if I were you...

That isn't a pack issued auto.

from a pure handwriting aspect, all of the auto's posted here look really strangely different...... maybe he just doesn't have a very good set sig, but damn, it looks like they are all a different persons handwriting. that's extremely strange, because usually everyone has certain loops/methods that they keep close together, but almost none of them match.

This was a test version, backdoored from Fleer and were never originally signed.

People either had them sent to the players, or fake-signed them themselves.




As for Barkley sigs, I'd only go with PACK-ISSUED & CERTIFIED.

PSA/DNA/BGS/etc all GRADE FAKED CARDS. Grading and authentication is subjective.


I'd be willing to bet a GOOD majority of high-end authenticated/graded autograph cards are FAKE.

The only Barkley auto in this thread I'd bank on is the Autographics!





Just look at that thread from last week with the guy having 50+ ebay auctions with HOF, star autos all signed with PERFECT and almost IDENTICAL signatures to the players themselves.


All it takes is a great artist and a lot of practice ... STICK TO PACK-PULLED!

No offense to anyone, but I assume any non-pack pulled autograph item to be possibly fake and worthless ... no point in taking a chance to save money and end up in possession of a base card with some ink that a 50 year old loser from Arkansas signed himself (no offense to 50 year olds or anyone from AK ;) )

I got mine that I posted above in person as a kid...dodged a bullet there.
I think PSA and JSA both try to do right and offer a good service authenticating autographs, but I agree they are far from perfect. It can be easy to spot fakes, but that doesn't mean there aren't good fakes out there.

im scared lol...i picked this up and it has a sorta loopy C...stamped so not sure what to think and seller said he pulled it himself.

Don't worry, you're good with the Autographics. I don't believe I've ever seen a blank Autographics bankruptcy version.

Plus with the stamp you have double-authenticity almost.

I recall that card or one like it being claimed as signed in person by charles.

I believe all these Barkley autographs are real. Very nice cards. Thanks for sharing.
