Lazy Card Companies

I'm to the point that I do not want to buy anymore products until the card companies start putting a little more effort into the cards, specifically the player poses/pictures used for the cards. I'm tired of seeing the same poses in different sets. Some are in the same product line, some are different product line.

Here is a good example of Larry Johnson (basketball)
larry johnson certified in Basketball | eBay

Both of those are from the Totally Certified product. Now, here is one from Absolute:

I'll throw up another example. Here is TY Hilton Chrome:

Your answer Panini, they use the same images over and over. The same over photo shopped pictures with the Player alone, and almost all have the same pose.

UD is the best of doing Ctrl+C and ctrl+V.

You listen up buddy. It takes a lot of man hours to select this one image, crop it, brush it up, resize it, and all the the good jazz. Just think about what it would take for a creative person to have imaginative productivity , he sure as hell wouldn't be working at card company making crap pay, thus allowing us affordable box prices.

Actually UD is notorious for doing this, especially with the college uniform cards.

I have noticed that Panini is really bad about doing this. Upper Deck used to be good with photography before when they could use nba logos, but now they are just as bad with their photography as well. UD uses the same college pictures for just about every card. So I buy older upper deck cards and newer panini cards. Since Panini has much better customer service, I prefer to buy newer products from them just in case I get a redemption card. At least with Panini, I know I will at least get something equal value in return.

Yes of course, but given the fact that there isn't as many recent images of old school players in college uniforms. Remember UD cant use any NBA stuff.

it's really not that difficult.

Takes a good 15min if you are familiar with photoshop to crop something out.

yeah but there's got to be more than one known photo of walt playing in college...im well aware of their restrictions, but im sure they could find plenty more pictures...

You have no idea how many times that LJ pic has been used. This goes back to the Upper Deck days so its not a panini thing. I was going to make a separate thread about it since he's my pc, and its annoying as hell, but here's a small taste. I believe it started in 2008-09, yet they keep doing it ;/

I'll fix the sizes and add a few more later

oh yeah just got this too

I know they can only do so much with retired players, but damn, really guys? Is it that bad?

I can see some of the vintage players being repeated as there aren't as many images of those players but anything after the 90's give me a break. There's no reason to repeat poses of players for different card sets. Seeing all those LJ's together with the same pose makes me wanna puke. Talk about lack of creativity.
