Realistic value question

Ok, let's see how many posts are serious before someone says something snotty or sarcastic here.

A while ago I put the 09-10 National Treasures box I have on ebay for 1,999.99 OBO. One is on ebay now with a starting price of 1,800 and change.

I really am still considering opening it, but not in the near future, I want to see what happens with Griffin, the dunk contest, the playoffs etc.

What I am wondering is what value do you put on this box. The cost of a 10-11 National Treasures seems to be around $600 and there is no rookie like Blake Griffin. Furthermore you have Jennings, Evans, DeRozan, Curry, Holiday, Harden, Henderson, Lawson and Rubio.

Most 1/1 RAPs are gone but there are still Logomen and RAPs of all those guys plus its the 1st year of NT basketball.

Anyway that's my claim for the value, but I will defer to you, what's the value!?

I agree with you that 09-10 is better as for the second part search up Jeremy Lin

Yea I am usually pretty good with holding back, I have a few unopened boxes and a case of 11-12 exquisite. I might bust the exquisite because I clearly made a bad investment on that one, but the NT I think has enough value that I have to be patient. I can see Blake winning the dunk contest again and the value going up or if the Clippers make a deep playoff run. As people have pointed out I do enjoy the hobby for flipping stuff. However, I also love the hobby and enjoy it for busting and being dumb!

forgot about Lin, yea he sells well but not enough to make the 10-11 more valuable

The only rreason 09-10 is more expensive is because there is not that many left

Haha I thought those guys were from 10-11 as well, my mistake. Kinda confused by original post's wording is all.

the boxes are indeed getting scarce but I think there is an inherent distrust of loose boxes (plus high end collectors want to chase 'case hits') that is keeping the loose box prices a bit down.

The seller's reputation may have a bigger effect on the price than otherwise...

Would be curious to know what the spread is between a loose box of 09-10 NT and a per box price from a sealed case.

i agree but i think loose or single from sealed wouldn't make much of a difference but sealed cases def would have more appeal bc of the guaranteed hits.
