I have read a lot of complaints about some many autos this year coming from guys who aren't in the league or just barely made their team. How much do you think the players make from panini to sign stickers for them? How many stickers do most players sign? How does panini decide who signs for them?

In a way that's good. It'd be nice to have him in a few products, but too many autos will lower the value. Kobe autographs would be a lot more expensive if Panini didn't make as many.

Just look at Durant. He's in every product, but at a Lower print run which makes him more valuable.

I heard from someone locally that Austin Daye once mentioned for 09/10 Classics, its numbered to /999 but he signed 1299. I wouldn't doubt it either, i have had many PANINI cards replaced, with the same card and same serial stamping (they just restamped it) and had me destroy the damaged card or they destroy it themselves.
I think rookies are on special deals as per the players associations right? so they make them sign as much as they can now and down the line, put out sticker dump products to rid themselves of scrubs. |

they sign usually in batches of around 2,000 give or take a bit so they can fulfill several sets at one time. thats why when you hear of someone signing (that hold out) you usually dont see the autos cause they are filling redemptions

I talked to Chris Kaman's brother about that one time. He told me that Chris was paid $18 per auto his rookie year. He was a high draft pick (sixth overall), and I'm sure there is some negotiation that goes on between players' agents and the card companies, but that's at least something to go on.

Other than superstar top picks. The card companies do large bulk deals with players.
Sure for most rookies Panini pays $10,000 to $15,000 thousand for player to sign 5,000 plus autographs. More common rookies might be dollar for each auto. When they know most of these will just sell for $1 or two. |

Not sure but I would like to know as well.
I remember a few years back the checks to players were on ebay (from fleer I believe) that were signed by the player on the back and that was how much they got paid. I should have bought some up even though they never had anyone I cared to have for sale. |
