Default Panini America Provides Detailed First Look at 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball

Panini America Provides Detailed First Look at 2012-13 Gold Standard BasketballDecember 28, 2012 at 3:35 PM
This 362nd day of 2012 is proving to pack quite a golden punch. This morning, we shared the first gilded glimpses of the 2012 Draft Class Redemption cards from 2011-12 Gold Standard Basketball. Now, we’re providing a precious-metal peek at 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball.
Due out in late April, 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball (10 cards per box) marks the polished evolution of a brand that has made quite an impact in two short years on the market. Year Three promises even more bells and whistles while also returning some of the set’s calling-card inclusions — most notably the Solid Gold 14kt gold 1/1s, the Bullion Brand memorabilia cards featuring oversized pieces of game-worn jersey tags and the Black Gold Threads oversized memorabilia cards.

Other highlights of 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball include:
  • A break that should deliver four autographs, one memorabilia card and one metal card in every 10-card box
  • A base set paralleled by Black and Platinum versions
  • Gold Strike Signatures featuring autographs from the NBA’s best rookies and rising young stars
  • The Mother Lode autograph insert honoring the biggest superstars in the game
  • Autographed Rookie Cards feature the addition of memorabilia swatches for 2012-13
  • A 305-card base set featuring 80 autographed memorabilia RCs, five base inserts, three memorabilia inserts and four autograph inserts
  • Look for 25 base-set SPs featuring selected stars wearing the jerseys of every team for which they played
We’ll have much more on 2012-13 Gold Standard Basketball right here on The Knight’s Lance in the coming weeks and months. But for now, enjoy this extended first look at the product . . .

If you slapped a little Upper Deck logo in the top corner instead of the Gold Standard logo I am sure it would be one of the best looking products out there

I do like the fact the rookie cards have memorabilia in them! It does look a little same-same as compared to previous years but I guess that's product continuity for you.

Cheers
Matt

Definitely Panini keeps raising and raising the bar. This Golds will be sought after. Im very impress!
We could put an upper deck logo or topps but we have to change the uniforms to college. Then it will ve MEH. Another amateur product. Thanks Panini for giving us a Golden Product with true licensed stamp by the NBA. All i want is A Original Nba product. With professional uniforms. Thats what Panini could offer. Going for the gold.

No, I think Tristan is right this time. That is not exactly different from 11-12 gold! At least the inserts sets were different in the first 2 releases!

I've always liked this product, just not for $200 a box.

Decide for yourself, top is 11-12, bottom is 12-13

GS was a really nice product from Panini, would love to see more of the 24K and 14K prime cards. But the designs need to be unique as they were with 10-11 vs 11-12

Didn't we see the same scan's last year? Anyways I will admit I have liked those tag patches so lets hope there are some players I collect in that set.
