Possible scam- Getting a package shipped back to you before delivery? HELP!

Check this thread and it appears I am being scammed by tsettle34.
Stolen michael jordan fleer 86-87 rookie bgs 6.5

I sent him a Durant Goudey BGS 9/10 and Cam Newton Limited Spotlight for an MJ rc BGS 6.5 and Rodman Exquisite /91.

The DC # shows that it is at his local PO, I sent the package Insured and with DC, is there a way to contact the PO and get them to send the package back to me before they deliver it? I called but they are closed, they open 8 am tomorrow (5 am my time).

What would be the best course of action here? Any and all help greatly appreciated. Starting to freak out a little bit thinking that I may be out of $500+ worth of cards. Thanks

Thankfully you insured it. I'd just try calling them whenever you can/when they're open. Seems he's trading you something that wasn't his yet and something that he had traded away to get that item.... clearly a scammer.

So I have the number of his local PO. Guessing I should call early tomorrow and try to get the package recalled? What happens if they cant recall it, am I screwed? I did send with Insurance but not sure the extent to which Im covered. He said he would send my cards back if I couldnt recall them, but he is now banned so he is probably not going to honor his word.

Your insurance only covers if it is lost OR the cards are damaged. If the trader doesn't send you cards back, there is nothing you can get from USPS. You just have to report to police.

There is a way to reroute an item with DC back to you, but you might not have enough time. Go to your post office first thing in the morning and tell them you want something routed back to you. It costs 10 dollars or so. Problem is that the package may be out for delivery before they can get the card rerouted back to you.

I don't know what would happen if you call their post office. If it's anything like my local PO, they won't even pick up the phone

They're all there at 6am in the morning. Give them a ring around that time because the posted times are just when the window clerks open up.

yeah, USPS just keeps re-routing my calls to 5+ parties. Their re-routings are more than peyton manning play calls.

call their PO office. Your local PO cares less once the package is out of their region.

So does insurance not cover postal fraud? That sucks. I'm guessing you'd have to go through something else for that then. Gosh, is there any way to be fully protected in this hobby?

I have the guys cell # and he assures me everything is going to be sent back to me and that hell even reimburse me for shipping. Seems like a good guy who just made a mistake, so Im going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Postal fraud is not what you buy from USPS service. USPS service is to delivery safely. The criminal/fraud from the receiver has nothing to do with any postal office.

And in term of "fully protected", avoidance is your best tool. Meaning, don't even trade/sell/ship cards. Even if you plan to hand-delivery, you still run in the risk of getting in car accident and lose the cards.

I almost deal on COMC exclusivley. I sell on here from time to time and will buy from certin members. But 90% of my b/s/t/ is done on COMC.YOU DONT EVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BEING RIPPED OFF. Taking the worry away makes it fun again.

What I cant understand is how people are sending out $500, $1500 worth of cards to people they have never dealt with. Not only that but they are sending them out first! Why?

I have a feeling the deals are too good to be true so people are making them quick without even thinking twice about what they are doing.

Update on the situation- the cards were delivered today to him and he sent them back to me insured. Crossing my fingers that the cards are actually in the package (he provided pictures of the package and insurance label), but he seems like a good guy so I have faith they are. Will update this when the package arrives

I bought a lot from him a couple months ago. The main card from the lot (only a $12 card or so) was missing. He said he thought he may have sent it in another package by mistake and never heard from anyone about it. He offered to send me PayPal to make up for that card and I told him not to worry about it since I felt it was an honest mistake.. I hope this guy is legit and hopefully he is. I'm just glad whether my card was a mistake or a knowingly not including it in there that either way it wasn't a really expensive card. Good luck, I hope it turns out good for you.
