Recently yes, but back when UD had a NBA license I would have to say no. Thats why sadly with the help of shillers a MJ auto in a NBA uniform is worth more.

Actually UD exquisite had a ton of MJ autos. During the release of Exquisite, MJ autos were selling for less than a case of the product. Its not until as of recent that these exquisites have started to boogy

Good for Leaf getting Lillard. They stepped up early and got a deal done with him.

Boo freaking who on poor Panini, Ud, Topps ect. They all have done the same thing in the past. Entitlement is so overboard these days.

Either people cry because they can't get his autos, or then they cry cause a guy has too many autos blah blah blah.
I would have zero problem if Panini works out deal with Leaf and puts a authentication hologram on back of his signed cards. Adds a little more security to the card. Kinda like how Kobe has his sticker on autos, Leaf did it on the buy backs for Memories. It's not like Panini/UD can't go through Leaf and get a signing done. It's a business.

And the greatest center of the last quarter century had an exclusive for ALL his cards, not just Autos. Remember that Classic move?

They didn't flood the market with durant

Products were not $500 a box in the 90s when Jordan only had a 100 autos in a product .

There shouldn't be any exclusives. It kills the hobby for sure! Look now we can't even get a quality auto of Lilliard ...Thats sad!

Panini should pressure the league/players association to do something about this. They got the NHL to stop exclusive deals a few years ago when they got their license. Something like this indirectly hurts the league/PA because it makes their licensed products less valuable.

What is a 'quality auto'? Also, why is Leaf management buying Panini Lillard cards on eBay?

Expect Sticker autos on Panini buy backs inserts into Best of Basketball.

I can see Prizm Lillard autos with Sticker in a PSA/DSA slab like we did with Durant.

Unfortunately they wont sustain prices.

I actually applaud Leaf for locking Lillard in. He seems to be a VERY loyal kinda kid. Leaf believed in him, went for it, thats bad for us collectors, but it's a smart business play.

And isn't it just that? Business.

But then again my comments are a bit selfish because I have a Leaf Sig of Lillard /10. Gotta admit, his auto is sick!

Either way, power to the underdog! Panini tries to monopolise and ends up with egg on their face because they missed Mr Lillard.

Lillard can sign Panini cards during private or public signings with Leaf when a Leaf hologram can be added to them.
Lol, like any company would do that?
Competition to sign players to exclusives has skyrocketed and the prices to sign players to deals has skyrocketed as well.

Exclusive deals lead to a higher price points for products and take away choices from collectors.
So then he's saying exclusives are a problem that makes products more expensive and hurts collectors and then he does it too?

Leaf would love to have an NBA license if the NBA were to feel competition is good for the market & collectors, however the economics of a license are not favorable at this time.

What Leaf or Brian Gray could do is to do a Buy Back (Leaf Authenticated) Auto on Lillard NT Rookie Patch card, and numbered it to #10 or #99 whichever is more suitable for the business. How to distribute them? 2013/2014 Leaft products or even earlier cause Leaf is "NOT" tied for NBA long tiring approval.

If Leaf didnt doit, I would buy Lillard NT Rookie Patch and send it to Leaf with $50 for Lillard auto

I know a lot of people want to see his cards in National treasures but if I was Panini I wouldn't put him in anything else. They know that leaf is going to continue to do the best of Basketball/football/baseball and all they have to do now is buy a $20 jersey or $50 patch card from National treasures and have him sign it then get it slabbed and promote the hell out of it.

How many Prizm autos do you think will be in the next best of basketball I say at least 1 gold on card auto will be

i think its cool that someones trying to compete with the big guys and i thought leaf signature series was a great product. it does seem kinda bootleg though with these buybacks. i don't want a slabbed "authentic" auto on lillard on a prizm card, thats strange to me.

I really like life as a company and actually think they are doing a better job than UD. That being said I still hate the Lilliard will not sign panini cards. I was looking forward to getting him to sign my hoops rookie cards. Now I have to go for leaf, a rakrs card or a mini ball.
